Unofficial 308 tool kit specifications

Really interesting and informative, thank you. I’ve been looking at what’s out there on eBay etc… and haven’t seen yet a kit for sale with that 14/14 combination wrench.

 

I'm going to nitpick here, but...agree in general, but not completly.
First and most important thing:
Greg, you are NOT going to pay 2.000 dollars for this. Because all the missing things mentioned by Steven ("Piezo")

Second, I think it could be a very late 308 or early 328 tool roll that lost a few items and was 'recompleted" by the wrong ones.

- The roll itself is correct, as it has the spark plug tool pocket at right, after the pocket for the pliers. Testarossa tool rolls do not have a spark plug pocket at right, they "end" with the plier's pocket. So th roll is not from a Testarossa.

- As said above
The spark plug tool is missing.
The pliers are a later version than what would be correct, these are of a wrong type. Late Q.Vs mostly had blue sheathed pliers, very layte QVs might have the same "Kravm" badged pliers as the 328, and even no window crank (= basically, same toll roll as the early 328s)

- The wrenches are the correct "Chrom Vanadium Kravm" type, the serie is correct & matching, except for the 14/15 which looks like an "Utema" to me and has nothing to do there.
If this serie of wrenches were from a "Testarossa" tool roll, there would indeed be a 14/15 like this one (Testarossa tool rolls do not have a spark plug tool nor the assorted 14/14 combination wrench), but it would be a "Chrom Vanadium Kravm" identical to the others.
So I think that this is actually a 308/328 serie of wrenches that missed the combination wrench and was recompleted by what was available at the time; if the wrenches were form a "Testarossa" tool roll, very probably the assorted and missing 14/15 "Chrom Vanadium Kravm" wrench would still be there with the other assorted wrenches.

With a spark plug tool (not easy to find) and the assorted "Chrom Vanadium Kravm" 14/14 combination wrench (difficult to find) and the correct "Kravm" badged pliers; and the late "T" shaped emergency window crank, it could make a very decent very late QV tool roll.
But with all the missing things and considering their price, asking 2.000 dollars for this "bits of this and bits of that" mongrel is insane.

This kit looks in great condition and is complete but it seems that it is a 328 kit and not 308 QV - do you experts confirm? No chance that a 1985 QV could have come with a kit like this?

Only the very late produced QVs, that is, during the months of June, July, August (very few Ferrari produced in August in these old days in Italy: holidays!) September, etc...and as said by Steven ("Piezo") the spark plug tool should be for 14mm plugs, not for the smaller 12mm plugs of the 328 3,2 litre engine.
So yes it would do, but only for a late-production car, and with a spark plug tool for 14mm plugs.

Note that only a few dozens of the early produced 328s (= after September 1985) had the auxiliary window crank socket in the doors, but as far as I know, their tool kits were not delivered with the auxiliary crank itself (the "T" one).

Here is a weird question. I own a 1976 Vetroresina SN 19333 and I think (but do not know) if this is the original toolkit. I know that the screwdrivers are wrong and one of the wrenches is not an Everest 22. The weird thing is the snap that was installed right through the pocket. This prevents 8 wrenches from being inserted because only seven slots are available. My car was production number 30 and is a RHD car so maybe early UK cars are different? In any event, I would appreciate tribal knowledge on the subject.

My 76 UK VR has what is purported to be the original kit. It’s exactly like post #687. Your snap through the pocket I’ve never seen before. My 77 French market GTB has the exact same kit as well.

 

One can also put together a clone toolkit for less than the price of the “replacement” kits sold by the parts houses.

Thanks for the info. I am still going to operate under the assumption that my tool roll is correct and original only because there is a show picture of the car in the 1990's with this same tool roll. It could also be that the snap pulled out and was reinstalled incorrectly.

 

Probably very correct about the snap.

 

The screwdriver at the left most pocket of your tool roll is incorrect, no doubt about it, as it is from a 328 tool roll (dark red-brown handle and white Ferrari inscript), but it has some value (about $ 100, depending if it has a flat blade or a philips), so all is not lost...

After reading through the thread, I am assuming my toolkit is a fraud and a sham. Is anything in this kit genuine? My car is a '79 308GTS .

I think that one is no bueno but if you go to a show the ding is not much

 

Hope it is not too off topic, but do somebody has a picture how does the lower fixture look like.
The one where the wrench kit bag rubber strap hooks in? 308 GTSi USA 1980.
I think the us version GTSi is differnt. than the others!
