I bought a new 2020 Huracan EVO RWD Spider in Manhattan in September 2020. I just sold it in October for more than I paid 3 years ago. I loved the car - noisy, raucous, stunning looks (it was bright red), and got a ton of attention from everyone. No negative reactions. Kids, middle age women, bus drivers, working class ppl - everyone recognizes a Lambo and love to see them.

When I bought the EVO, my first choices were Ferraris and McLarens. I wanted a new car, so Ferrari was out of the question. I looked at McLarens but thought there was to much inventory. 570S is one of the most common supercars. 720S which was beautiful and fast, was expensive and turbo (not a preference). So I ended up with the EVO and drove it happily for 3 years.

After I sold the EVO, I started scoping 458s, and decided I wanted to stay with a spider. I bought a 2014 458 Spider in white, with red calipers, maxed out carbon fiber, with the racing seats. I love this car, and acknowledge it is a completely different experience than the EVO. The driving feel seems much more reactive/attentive and the exhaust sound (important to me) is completely different. The Lambo is loud all the time (regardless of RPMs), and the pops from the downshifting are like fire crackers. At full throttle, the car set off car alarms regularly in the city. In contrast, the 458 is more subtle in appearance, lower exhaust noise at lower RPMs, the pops are more deep, like explosions rather than fire crackers, and the higher RPM sound is much higher frequency.

I do not mind the low tech of the 458 - I was not using any of the "higher tech" on the Lambo. The stereo sucked and the display was ok at best. The electronics on my 2021 Jeep Wrangler are far superior to a 2020 EVO.

Glad to join this forum. I took the car out for a drive for the first time today and happy to report that all the buttons work, no check engine light, etc. Pretty good for buying a car on internet sight unseen.

I tried buying the EVO spider, but I didn’t fit (already had the 458 spider). Lambo dealer ended up selling me a STO, which I adore. No doubt, a Lambo is a special breed.

I don’t think I’ll ever part with the 458, yes it has some weak points, but it is still a timeless Ferrari look, 10 years in.

I threw a stripe on mine for good measure, and I like the Panda look. Here it is at Daytona last year.

Congratulations and welcome. Excellent review on the difference. I looked at a Hurracan 610-4 before deciding on the 488. I felt the 488 is just more refined than the Hurracan. And it’s definitely a lot more comfortable. Lol.

I did a similar move years ago from my Huracan Performante to a Speciale… never looked back.

I've had several Huracan variants over the years and think they are spectacular machines. I also like the durability a bit more than my 488 and F8 cars. My only gripe has been they're simply too common and not as special in the wild (totally subjective).

All that said, I constantly finding myself wanting another one.

I have an Evo and a 458. Both great machines with tons to offer. It’s amazing how well the 458 has aged compared to a car over ten years it’s junior.

Huracans are awesome cars, but yes way too many of them. The Perf is very special.

Appreciate the review. I’ve owned my F430 for 5 years and have been toying with potential replacement options. Just rented an STO for 24 hours….what a car. Enjoyed the V10. I’ve realized I’m a NA car guy. So that limits me to a 458 or Huracan Evo, Perf, Technica.

How is the steering on these lambos? Everyone complains about them, even the RWD versions but are they really that bad?

Looking at an F8 v 720 v Performante or something like that

Rory Reid from Autotrader was really praising the steering on the Tecnica. Have you had the chance to drive that?

I just put 400 miles on an STO, steering was great. It’s not Porsche steering but that’s ok. I don’t find a major difference between the STO and modern Ferraris. McLarens have better steering from my experience.

    .

. IMO the STO is more precise and natural than all of these. Ferraris feel a little GT like comparatively speaking.

Perf is AWD so always going to get some push in the car.
That’s not been my experience, haven’t tracked the STO, but have pushed it on mountain rides.
