In race mode traction control will allow you to kick the rear out a little but nothing crazy. You'd have to go up to get a better feel for how far you can truly push it but that comes with consequences.

I've run the regular Cup 2 and found there about 2 seconds faster a lap and slicks are about another 2 seconds faster a lap. The cup 2 R's would probably be in the middle. I'd go with slicks if you'll always be in dry conditions.

Cup 2's are great for the track, but honestly, if you are going to have a tire you want to track with and then drive the car home after, just stick with the PS.

I have cup 2's on my GT4. They are awesome for the track, but living in Wisconsin, they are not good at temperatures that the PS would still be fine in, levels of rain that the PS would still be fine in and they need to be swapped out much quicker. Sure, on the track yeah I can get 1.5s a lap quicker, but I only track a few times a year and the lap times are just against myself anyway. I am still going to enjoy my time on the track regardless, but I miss out on some "weekend" driving that I would be able to do if I had PS4S.

This is just my two cents. I am happy to hear you are tracking the F8 and having a great time. Stay safe!

Cup 2 is probably your best bet for a track- only tire, but harder and less versatile than a PS. If you’re running in race, check your back pads if they’re stock!

I blew through a set of rears pretty quickly, race mode will accelerate the wear. Better pads than the car, however. You can learn a lot in race mode about the edge of grip. Ferrari does a great job (IMO) with the mannetino.

Have fun, be safe, enjoy! I love to hear of others slugging it out a bit.

The F8 is deceptive it’s so damn quick and quiet! Feedback is excellent, it’s much improved over the 458 under duress. Just respect its limitations as a track vehicle, you should be fine.

I run slicks on the 458 Challenge, I only rarely will track the F8. Slicks are a whole different ball of wax.

Next step up should be Cup 2. The Cup 2 R will be be sticky for a few laps then fall off. Regular Cup2 will suit you better. Slicks…like Hoosier R6 etc will over whelm the stock suspension, car will lean over a lot plus the cars brakes will not be suited for more grip In threshold braking and there is not progressive break away with them. As you get stickier tires you’ll need to upgrade with suspension…brak3s, etc…it’s a package…tires and suspension and brakes work as 1.

Great feedback, thanks everyone. I'll stick with the Cup2 or Cup2 R. Any major considerations on what wheel to put them on? Was just going to put them on my stock wheels but didn't know if type/size of wheel makes a noticeable difference?

Stock wheels will be fine but if you must go aftermarket go with a known race, proven wheel like HRE, BBS, Forgeline and 100% definitely stay with stock size 20” wheels. Larger wheels hinder overall performance especially at the track.

If you do your wheels correctly stock size looks great. Here’s mine on stock size 20” HRE and Sport Cup 2’s.

Where are you located? Willow Springs in Rosamond is a great track.
