Anyone in greater so cal have a recommendation for painting(or powder coating) stock 355 wheels?
Tried WRS previously & not thrilled w them.

Pretty sure these are powder coated from maranello, but Wheels America says they can’t do them because they’re magnesium. Is any of this true?

Unless you find a guy which really knows what he’s doing AND WILL REPLACE YOUR WHEELS IF HE SCREWS UP, paining seems like the safer way to go.

Call Dave or John at Wheel Enhancement, they're by LAX (310) 836-8908. They have experience with mag wheels. Paint is the way to go.

    Thanks everyone

$400 per wheel is the quote. WRS is $250. Quality of their work was not the problem, it was the attitude

There should be a chapter in the repair manual about these wheels - don‘t powder coat them!

Don't forget, if they strip the wheels down to bare magnesium before repainting, the wheels need to be re-anodized with a Dow process before applying the new paint.

OE wheels are painted from the factory. You don’t powdercoat magnesium wheels unless you take it to a magnesium wheel powdercoating specialist.

I'm pretty sure bradan charges $200 per wheel and most would argue they are the best

    Is Bradan accepting new business?

Excellent work. But you already know they’ve been using the wrong silver color restoring these wheels.

I painted mine. Granted, they were a real mess, but what a nightmare painting wheels is! I even paid to have mine chemically stripped, so the nasty work was done.
I used a surface converter prep wash on the bare magnesium (forget the name - got it from Aircraft Spruce), then epoxy primer, then solvent-based PPG in Argento Nuremburgring, then clear. All in my backyard under an ez-up.. springtime in San Diego is a beautiful thing!
If I knew Bradan was $200 I would have gone that route. That must be their "scuff and spray" price.
Here's a photo of one. Aluminum lug seats not installed yet.

Short story long - Don't powdercoat. If you trust the wheels, scuff and spay is the way to go. I don't have anybody I trust to do a good job, but if you have a painter you trust, they should be able to handle it. If you do need to strip them down, I'd expect to pay $500/wheel.
