I suspect that a good portion of the 500k price tag went toward making a functional air conditioner! OK, seriously, appearance-wise I think it looks mostly OK. I don't like any of the blue painter tape but otherwise I think it's fine. Leno might buy one for his collection!
I think they missed a great opportunity here. If only this could have been to the 308 what this car is to the 037.... https://www.goodwood.com/grr/road/news/2021/5/is-the-kimera-evo37-the-best-restomod-yet/?utm_source=The%20Goodwood%20Estate%20Company%20Ltd&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=12414234_MS%20-%20PAS%20-%20Friday%20newsletter%20-%2028.05.2021&utm_content=Is%20the%20Kimera%20EVO37%20the%20best%20restomod%20yet%3F%20HERO%20IMAGE&dm_i=1QLU,7E2VU,AS3EKM,U097R,1 Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
It was in Dallas last Wednesday for the day, loaded and headed to Houston as soon as the event was over that same night! S
Still don’t like it; general shape actually not too bad but the execution with the M badges everywhere; the marble shifter. We have a phrase here ‘nouveau riche’
Just awful. It gives me the same feeling I get when a "Voice" contestant murders one of my favourite Beatles' songs.
I talked to a few people who saw it in person and analyzed it closely, one owns a body shop that works on Ferraris often. It isn't a bad car, it is a neat attempt, it takes a risk, but falls flat. $600k for a 308 that still looks like a 308 with painters tape, not significantly more power, still the limitations of that era engine and belts, and craftsmanship that is more $100k than $600k. Hey, each to their own tastes, credit to Maggiore for taking a chance. If you are going to ruin a perfectly good 308, would you rather spend $600k on 1 of 40 for this or a 1 of 1 Norwoods 288 GTO with twin turbos and 800 hp?
I heard the work was quality, sans the comment (like the LED lights etc) that wasn't necessarily $600k quality.
No doubt the quality of the work shows. I think the biggest expense is the molds and CF, though they plan on building 40 for that price point...ummm yeah no. Shooting for a 20+MM sales on that. That's crazy overpriced. Then I wonder, it's just hype right? Crazy price, free advertising, get people talking, but when a client actually sits down... The price drops.
I have a concours one owner 78 308 GTB so I would not mess with it. But instead of blowing 500k I would buy one for 50k or less and have Carabou upgrade the motor, get some suspension mods, better brakes and Capistro or Tubi put Euro on bumpers and a concours paint job with Daytona seats from world Upholstery have my local custom shop upgrade the dash same just new and nicer and have about 150k in a car that drives just like the 388GTBi not that difficult and far better investment.
I like it but wish the rims were 1” smaller in diameter so there was a taller sidewall and rear tires one size narrower. Lovely color. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
308M is a No go for me. Screams unrefined flare moment but GordonC reminding me of the Mototechnique 308 saves the day. Agree with kiwiokie regarding the wheels need to allow an inch more tire side wall. 308 GTB & S lines hold true refined timeless art even in the shadow of a 288 GTO.
50% of that video is a rehash of previous videos of the car, the individual who posted it on YT acknowledges the other content provider in his description. And yes, the Mototechnique car is indeed absolutely stunning, but I completely agree with Kiwiokie and others, that the 18” wheels totally ruin the look of the car. It looks “on stilts” and the wheel wells weren’t designed to accept 18” wheels and lowish profile tires. This aesthetic with standard arches and all the other Mototechnique mods (apart from the exhaust) would be THE perfect 308 GTB restomod (imo) : Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login And I agree, the Maggiore car is ghastly, and as someone said, it’s a bit like painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa, completely unnecessary and utterly pointless.
And another couple of images of that car : Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Where's he going to get 39 more donor cars? Personally, I wouldn't sell him mine with the knowledge of his intended debauchery.
