Any one here have experience with flex fuel tuning and E85 in the 488?

Gonna go bigger (a little) on the turbos and want to use E85 (and 91 Ca fuel) in a flex fuel config.

Done with Motec on other turbo street cars... just not on the 488.

Not looking to tread new ground, looking for people that have done it (not rocket science).

    Thanks,

    TonyG

Isn’t that giving with one hand and taking from the other?

What’s the driver for E85. Just curious as an out of Towner..

No. It's an octane thing (and how cool it burns temp wise). Higher octane allows more boost and more ignition timing... which translates into big power difference capability. Today's pump fuel is very limiting (at least in the USA).

More like, at least in CA. 93 is at every gas station by me

Do we know if the stock injectors and pump will flow enough? I spoke to hd tuning about it. They have done a few.

I had to double up on injectors and pumps in my old RX7 when I switched to the corn.

93, while better than CA 91, it's still far from E85.

Larger injectors are not an issue. I converted my EvoX. Yes larger injectors. But what I'm looking for is if anybody has don't a flex fuel conversion, not a straight conversion to E85 (like the Innovate kit used on my EvoX).

Ahhh yeah. I dunno. I'd hit up HD tuning. I doubt you'll get much info around here. These jabronies don't know about modding cars lol

Yeah, but you said fuel in the USA was limiting. 93 octane is as good as anywhere in the world for regular pump gasoline.

Pump gas is limiting. That's why race fuel exists.

Correct... for "pump gas". 91 and 93 are very limiting. Very. Race fuel is race fuel... I burn it in my race cars out of necessity at the track. Very difficult to do on a car you want to drive around like a normal car (range & cost). E85 is close to a race fuel. Yes it's inconsistent with respect to the % ethanol. From my experience in California, Nevada, and Arizona it's around 73%-77%. But even at 73%, it's a world apart from 93 pump gas. Huge difference.

Yeah, I get all of that.

Maybe I just understood your first post but I took it as "USA isvery limiting in pump fuel as opposed to X country's pump fuel", because that's how its worded. You are actually saying "91 or 91 is very limiting" instead. It doesn't matter, I understand what you and Eric are saying and what you are trying to achieve.

It’s all good my man. I was just confused but that could just be a problem with me. In any case, I understand now and unfortunately don’t have an answer to your question. Watching though because I am curious.
