Once you get the project on the road, you will be amazed at the attention these cars get. It is a party every time I go get gas in mine!

Today these cars tend to be pampered and looked after - Parked in secure garages over night (in many cases heated and/or air conditioned), only driven in the dry, and for limited miles, serviced on the dot, etc., etc., etc.

Back in the mid 80's/early 90's though, they were just rich people's play things, used as a car in all weathers, and 10~20 years later a lot of them depreciated to a level where people could afford to buy them, but either couldn't afford to service them properly, or simply couldn't be ar$ed to service them properly, and the cars were neglected.

Based on that, it's quite feasible that there are cars that were neglected "back in the day", did have days when the stayed out all day, and did deteriorate further - Such as the OP's car.

The 3 x 8 s get more attention than any other Ferrari that was ever made,,its that simple. I will also throw in the Testarossa the BBi 512 the 288 GTO and the F40 , they each get as much attention, there just are not enough of them on the road, or as many .

Thank you very much for the encouragement! Also thanks for the reference to Ferr Parts. Looks like a wonderful source for parts. Can't wait to get her sorted and in a normal driving condition!.

I can tell you from personal experience of my recent 328 purchase that everything you budgeted to bring it back will be 2 to 3 times more than you thought ---

-- and still worth every penny.

I would say also that service in those days was hard to find in a large part of America and expensive or time consuming. So a lot where butchered or neglected and had to be sorted out later in today's world.
