Several months ago I bought these old (roughly period correct) HRE wheels from a local Ferrari hero.

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/index.php?threads/HRE-545-18%E2%80%9D-Wheels.680378/

I then sent them to HRE for refurbishment and refinishing. My inspiration was the gold-windowed Gotti wheels you used to see in the 80s.

You can't run those rims unless you have an 8-ball in the glove box and lace panties hanging from the rear view mirror

Luckily for me, those are the exact two things your wife left in my car over the weekend. :)

(This is a joke! All in good fun. I’m teasing in the spirit to which I’m being teased myself!)

I may be a bit biased, but I think they look fantastic! Can't wait to see them on the car and so glad they went to someone who likes them so much!

Does any one know how much bolt shank should *protrude past* the wheel? I’m trying to find some bolts for these wheels.

    Maybe knows?

7 thread pitches--this is a fairly universal number for all kinds of fasteners and strength of the threads. Just make sure if the rotor you thread the bolts into do not have a deep counter bore, and if they do you need more threads to cover that space.

The member in tension will have 5 threads under tension. The member creating the tension will (also) have 5-threads in tension.
The number 7 allows for chamfers on the thread boss and on the end of the thread of 1 thread pitch.

If you try to have more threads in tension and a bit more tension happens than the thread can support, the threads will distort and you loose the ability to take the thing apart (easily) part of the thread may be 20 threads per unit, the distorted part might be 19 threads per unit.

That was a guy from my Fiat Abarth days who came up with it. It’s brilliant, really. He should have trademarked it (tho that would probably be impossible)

Lower it a bit and put some center caps in and it works imo.

Thanks! I’m not going to lower it - I’m too old and my mechanic says it’s as low as it can go on factory springs — but I do have some HRE center caps en route. The yellow Ferrari caps clashed with the gold.

... and this... is from the guy who's spending is time bashing other people when they fit bigger "tasteless" wheels on their Ferrari in another thread?
    Priceless! :D
