Yes. I am #2 at my dealer so I expect that I will be a fairly early owner. Depends a little on price and final engine configuration.

The ZR1 is an interesting item. It clearly exists (Nurburgring footage). In the C7, the ZR1 was a one year car (the farewell to the C7).
Could the ZR1 get shown in 1st quarter 2024, and then go into production fall/early winter 2024 as a 2025? Who knows. THEN maybe they do make a "Zora" and it becomes the sign off of the C8 (in 2028/2029???)

FWIW, I think the ZR1 is going to be a 2026 MY car, just because the eRay has been pushed to first quarter 2024 start of production, they're still very backed up on Z06 orders, and the Stingray is still selling just fine. Something has to give to add another variant right on top of the 2 newer ones.
Plus, can the market support THREE $100K+ (eRay) or $100K ++ (Z06) or $100K and maybe getting to $200k with options (ZR1) Corvettes?
    There again, Ford made a $300K Mustang...

Pushing the ZR1 into 2026 would make sense as supply chain issues on carbon fiber still plague the auto industry. The rumor is that the ZR1 may be limited in production so it may not affect overall numbers that much but could complicate the asembly line in BGA.

Since it's pretty simple to get a Z06 to $150/$160K (with options, not ADM's), you have to figure the ZR1 is going to be mid to high $100K base and probably over $200K with options. THAT might limit production by itself. If I was running GM, I WOULD make the ZR1 a limited production car, and I would tell everyone how many I was going to build (1,000-1,500?). Porsche and Ferrari are the masters of "Thrive on what you can't have" marketing! GM should take a page out of that playbook. Stingray/Z06/eRay/customer GT3 racers (although that's not many cars) should keep Bowling Green busy.
All that said, lots of complaining went on about the C8 Z06's price and it certainly hasn't hurt sales.

Edit: The GT3's are going to be built by Pratt & Miller in Michigan. The bare chassis will come from Bowling Green.

Very cool! I am also on "the list" at my dealer for a ZR1 but I think I will be keeping my ZO6 (I really like it).

Are you ordering your ZR1 from the same dealer you bought your ZO6 from? If so, are they aware of your plans to sell your ZO6 after 6 months of ownership? If so, are they going to give you any grief for doing so?

I know my dealer would not be thrilled if I sold my ZO6 after 6 months and asked them for another allocation (for the ZR1) at MSRP. I think they would be much more inclined to give me an early allocation for a ZR1 if I kept my ZO6 or at least traded the ZO6 back to the dealership when I took delivery of the ZR1.

Just curious as to how lenient your dealer is...

Trading it in at the dealership is the agreement. My car was a bonus allocation and I stepped up at the last minute to help them out and it got me the car quicker so everyone seems to be happy.

My main concern is that the ZR1 might sound like an F8 or a Pista because of the turbos.

That will be a deal breaker for me if that's the case. I guess we'll know soon.

Yeah, that’s definitely a concern I had, plus after many years of FI vehicles, I’m rather enjoying the naturally aspirated world, especially in this beast. Still, will love to see the ZR1 in action.

ZR1 will be a monster, I'm not really interested in the car per se. However I'm extremely interested in the Zora and while it will be a battle I should hopefully be able to get one. The ZR1 will only be a purchase for me if it's necessary for the Zora.

    You were right!

Actually hit the five hundred mile mark on the way home from Pitt Race - had some business with the kart track to attend to.

The stretch of road I referred to is I-376; not exactly a twisty road, but pretty much empty and a good place to open it up a bit.

I know we're looking at a small sample size relative to the overall number of units produced, but here's another C8 Z06 engine that gave up the ghost.

    https://autos.yahoo.com/c8-z06-corvette-engine-blows-130000494.html

My buddy's C8 Z06 engine blew with just over 2,000 miles on it. I'm not sure how many miles he has on the new one, but everything seems good so far. The old engine was pulled and sent back to GM for analysis. I'd be interested to know if they've identified anything in common with the engines that have blown so far.

I checked back in with my dealer, and they have gone from $50k over to $25k over. I told him we would want to trade ours in, and with the 6% Texas tax savings to keep us in the loop. We would probably jump at $15K over.

With my car partner and I both being 71, we want our new toy now, not in 2 more years.

If you can still find a 2023, the lower MSRP and the $5000 in points they’ll give you in six months will take a chunk out of the markup, along with the tax savings you mentioned.

Also, in many cases they will negotiate with you on those mark ups; wait till the end of the month and give it a shot if they’ve got one available.

Just curious if anyone here has any plans to lower the seat?

I'm used to sitting "in" a car, not on top of it. I really liked the way my 991.2 GT3/430 Scuderia/M5 CS have low driving positions that make you feel like you're a part of the car and not like you are driving a skateboard.

I knew this would be an issue before I bought the car but it still bugs the crap out of me. Got rid of my Audi RS5 for this very reason.

Currently working with my local race shop for options on either lowering the OEM seats (which will be difficult due to all of the airbags/heating & cooling elements) or replacing the seats with something like a Recaro Podium or Recaro Sport C seat.

Most likely. I peeked under the seats when I took delivery and there wasn't very much clearance to lower the seats from what I could tell.

I'll know more once we pull the seats.

I will gladly sacrifice heating/cooling of the seats for a better driving position (if that's an option).
