Today i handed over the complete Books of my Dino and the very old Set of Keys i kept in my tresor and two more copys of the full Set of Keys. Also a Collection of nearly all the Invoices of the maintenance of the time, the Dino spendet with me. Now it takes as long as it takes to get the new US-Title that you find the Dino on BAT.

Hello Sergio, as far as i know from Bill Noon, it all depends on the authorities how long they will need to issue the new US-Title. Bill told me, as soon this is done, the Dino will go online shortly. I wait for it myself . So to be save not to miss anything, the best will be to subscribe to Bill´s newsletter on symbolicinternational.com, there my Dino is mentioned as „coming soon“. As soon i be aware of it, i will also post it here in the chat.
:)all the best to you and have a beautyful day…

Now back from wonderful California. Leaving the world greatest weather an my world greatest Dino behind, to arrive in chilly, wet, rainy, snowy ugly weather:confused: Germany on the last weekend……..without luggage. Because of a delayed Copilot, a damaged Airplane with a lot of logical excuses from AmericanAirline for a nearly 4houres delayted take off in LAX, we could´nt make it in time to our connecting flight in London. So we had the extra pleasure of a free little Roundtrip to Düsseldorf via Munich. The result, touch down 4minutes before Düsseldorf International closed down for good night and no Luggage. On friday our Luggage arrived and i realized, that i forgot to leave the „Forza Magazine“ at Bills office….. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I will send it after my Dino is (eventually) sold to the new Owner. It was all the time a great pleasure to have the Magazine AND the Dino in it.:)

Research Ex-John Corbani 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT

This is the world-famous Ex-John Corbani Ferrari Dino 246 GT. John owned the car for 33 years and documented incredible details of his ownership and modifications regular on Ferrari Chat. His detailed comments have been preserved for all to see and read.

After his death, the car was purchased by our friend and fellow Dino fan, Ralf Bsdenga who has enjoyed it for the past 14 years but recently decided to retire and felt the car deserved to be returned to the States where it became so famous under the ownership of John Corbani.

The car will be sold online with our friends at Bring-A-Trailer. When the auction goes live, I will update this description with a link to the auction.

The esteemed Historian, Matthias Bartz of Dino Compendium fame records the following details for this Dino:

Ferrari Dino 246 GT, chassis number 04504 - US Model
Production date: 15th of January 1973
Delivered to: Modern Classic Motors (USA)
Original Color: Bianco Polo Park (20-W-152) (Bright White)
Original Interior: NERO VM8500 (Leather black)
    Engine No: 135 CS 000 0010546 (Confirmed)
    Gearbox No: 1676E (Confirmed)
    Body No: 1622 (Confirmed)
    Warranty No: 2744/D
    Options:
    -Air Conditioning
    -Power Windows
    -Leather Interior
    Ownership:
-1972 Modern Classic Motors (Reno, NV)
-1986 until 2009 John Corbani (Santa Barbara, CA)
-2009 The Car Experience (Los Angeles, CA)
-2009 Ralf Bsdenga (Langenfeld / Bocholt, Germany)
    Registration:
    -“CORBANI” California
    -“ME-OO 246H” Germany
    -"BOR-O 246H” Germany
    Supplemental details:

Ferrari lists the completion date for this Dino on the car’s door jamb plate as September of 1972 but due to a variety of issued at the Factory, strikes and ongoing labor and parts issues, the actual completion date as noted by Matthias Bartz is January of 1973. The 1972 date attributed to to the original ordering dealer, Modena Classic Motors is reflective of the ordering date, not the date the car was actually shipped to them.

Ferrari historian, Stan Novak records this Ferrari was observed / noted as being with Modena Classic Motors in April of 1973 but he does not denote if it had already been sold or was still in inventory. He records the first private owner being from Palo Alto, Californi the following January with no other entires thereafter. The State of California records it was first sold new in 1973.

John Corbani, the car’s long term owner stated he found the car in his home town of Santa Barbara, California in 1986. The car was at a local used car lot and at that time, it was still painted white with a black interior. At the time of his purchase, the car had covered just over 40,000 miles and it was sold to him and recorded by the State of California as “True Actual Miles.”

The car came with a set of four “famous” Gotti” modular rims and they remained on the vehicle during his entire ownership. He reported on several occasions that the selling dealer bought it from the original owner in the “Bay Area” and that it had previously been raced by the owner who had the larger “Gotti” rims installed.

During his ownership of the car, Corbani had the car completely stripped to bare metal and repainted in the very popular Porsche color “Midnight Blue Metallic” which it retains to this day.

John Corbani drove this Dino as regular as he was able to, eventually covering more than 160,000 miles with it. Total current mileage for new is now 214,191 miles.

Please let me know if I can assist further in anyway with inspections, test drives and anything else you might need.

Kind regards and best of luck,

    Bill Noon

This is getting exciting!! I saw Corbani’s Dino parked in Santa Barbara long before I had my first Dino. I was smitten! It looked like a faraway dream to me. I loved following his adventures as I could relate to his DIY philosophy and mindset. I loved that he really drove it daily and fixed it along the way. He made it his own. Changed the color to his taste, ran it with the 16” Gotti’s etc etc. I’d love to find a set! Whoever ends up with this Dino will get much more than a Dino!

Thank you for your sincere words. i completely agree with you. 2009 i had two more options to buy a 246gt. When i bought it back then, the spirit of John was the deciding factor for THIS Dino….and it still is!
    Have a beautiful day, Ralf

Now we only depend on BaT when the Dino can go live. They have to coordinate the auctions with their scheduling department and so far, they have not given us a start date jet. Sorry, not under my control….stay curious ! Ralf

As i say curious:rolleyes: Bill Noon pleased me, to ask again if there is anyone out there who can tell anything about why my „Johns`s Dino“ is so fast?
He was totally surprised by the acceleration.

The car ran so great, in part, because JC spent a lot of time on the carb set up. The pool table in his basement was covered with Weber parts, tuning guides, modified floats, and tools that he used to fine tune the carbs. He managed to set it up so it avoided fuel starvation AND flooding during sharp left and right hand turns. I drove it, and both its handling and ability to put out the power surprised me too, and our mechanic. It had 195,000 miles or so when I drove it. I trust, hope, assume that JC's work wasn't lost while his Dino was serviced in Germany!
