    He everyone

I feel a little like an idiot, but I found a clip on the ground after removing the shift shaft on my QV. Now I don’t know where it belongs on the shift shaft, probably sort of retaining the boot? I marked it red where I think.

Im sure you guys know it from the top of your head.

… and next question about the ball & springs. It seems that some have like cups between balls and springs. But I don’t have and also diagrams do not show. Any advice?

That clip sits on the rubber boot on the inside of the smaller opening.
And I have never seen cups on those springs.

Thank you very much Guido! Now I can sleep again.

PS: that special part works like a charm in my QV!

If I remember well, there should be a bigger clip (nr 29) on the inside of the bigger opening and this holds the boot in place against the gearbox. Clips goes around the outer side of gearbox opening.
And there is a spacer (nr 19) that holds the seal in place. Spacer is hold in place with 3 or 4 beat points of the aluminium body of the gearbox.

    https://www.eurospares.co.uk/Ferrari/Mondial/Mondial_3.0_QV_(1984)/PartDiagrams/026/Outside_Gearbox_Controls

So there is no clips on the smaller opening...if you mean that clips on the right side of your picture...I did see this before but have no idea for the moment where that goes.

Yes, I mean that clip right bottom in my picture. So I understand it holds the boot from inside.

the clips inside the housings should be intact.

That clip on your picture has an other purpose, that I do not know for the moment. The clip, or should I say, a steel open ring, is bigger and holds the bigger opening of that boot connected to the gearbox case.

Post #7 in this thread shows how the pieces are arranged:

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/gear-selector-stuck.573613/#post-149287745

However, agree that the SPC figure isn't very clear:

    https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/diagram/ferrari/mondial-qv-coupe-cabriolet/025-inside-gearbox-controls

(The "bush" #16 is the non-removable steel sleeve pressed into the gearbox casting; the "spacer" #19 is the cup.)

Thank you Steve. From the spring & ball parts everything is clear now. Just wanted to know if any part was missing in my car as clearly it had many work done in the past :)

Taking this diagram, #19 are the rings in the castings and #27 is the one I found. Didn't check carefully enough before removing the rubber boot.

Haha, sooner or later you will find the purpose of it. Just ignore and keep in your bin.

The important now is, that it is not related to the shift shaft.
