So I finally picked up the MSP for my daily.

The first good news was that I somehow managed to avoid all the reported quality control issues at delivery. Panel gaps are normal, paint is with zero defects (in fact the best I've seen on a new car in over a decade), no loose trim, no rattles, basically zero drama. Drove it home 220 miles from the dealership and it was great.

This is my first electric car of any kind so I didn't really know what to expect, but so far I like it a lot ... it's actually nice to have a little quiet as I go about my day and my brain is still trying to wrap itself around the ridiculous performance. I've also been pleasantly surprised with the handling which I expected to mirror that of a Maxima, but it does in fact complement the performance of the car. It feels as planted as an M or AMG sedan. I thought I would struggle with a new tech language but it's pretty intuitive, so no issues there. I did subscribe to the FSD but haven't played around with it yet. I'll probably unsubscribe from it at some point because I'm just puttering around in a suburban environment so I've been using the car just like any other ... as in I know where I'm going and like driving myself there. :)

So yeah pretty smooth and uneventful transition into an electric car. I wouldn't want it if it were my only car but with the other NA stuff in the garage I am perfectly happy to use this as a daily.

And I'm very fond of the color and depth of the paint. Something Ferrari would change $35k for. :)

I know the feeling. I regret selling my '18 G63. I'm on the hunt for a new one right now. I won't make the same mistake twice.

Congrats you have the twin to mine. It is an amazing daily driver and as you have found out the performance is other worldly! I feel the same as you I would not have it as my only car but it's great to add to an ICE collection.

    Stunning.
I had two high end S models and miss them. Had a 3 recently and really hated it.
Love your color. And yes, these things are SOOO planted compared to a big Merc etc.

Not a regular non AMG MB user till this one. S580 has been a surprise great daily. The smooth quiet V8 is a nice companion on stress filled highways.

My first BMW, after multiple MOPARs as daily drivers. An M850i, for the occasional longer trip… a couple of years with it, now, and I really like it! Well, except for the 4600 lb it carries

Love the red and green on the bottom of the panels. Big fan of the E63 wagons. Nicely done!

I have a 2024 Volvo S60 Recharge PHEV for the daily driver and the 365GT is my garage queen (pun accidental). I'm lovin the plug-in for 98% of my driving is short trips. I haven't added any gas in 2 months and I'm showing a 360 mile gas range. When I parked this aftrnoon, the battery range was 32 miles. I spent extra and got the 360 degree camera - wonderful for a car (like all contemporary sedans) doesn't allow the driver to see the corners - I can park better and with confidence. Oh, then there's the acceleration - 0 to 60 in 4.2 seconds per Car & Driver's test, not Testa Rossa territory, but still pretty good for getting on the freeway.

Got another G63. Had sold the one earlier this year. Didn’t realize how much I missed it. Mounted the funky winter wheels and the tank is back on snowy roads again.

    You got the V!!
I just picked one up as well… awaiting delivery.
How do you like it compared to the normal Escalade?

I had the non V right before this. The V is more fun, but I do find myself at the gas station much more often.

I am going to be in the minority here, but I find the exhaust on full level to be obnoxious, way overkill for a family car, luckily for me you can reduce the sound while driving. What you can't do though is lower the exhaust noise on a cold start. My neighbors have to hate me, I leave the house around 430am and this thing is super loud on a true cold start. It's woken up my wife and kids a few times.

Interesting, I do like loud exhausts, but you’re right, on a family car it may be a bit much. Wonder if it’s louder than my Urus on cold start?
Is there a valve controller switch?
How does the handling on the V compare to the non V?

You can mess with the valves, but only after it's running. You can pretty much make the exhaust silent once it's on.

The handling is a good amount better, you are also a little lower to the ground in V mode. Not sure if you have the ESV, but it still feels like a huge car coming around a turn.

The AWD system on the V is great, much better than the 4wd on the non V. It makes the car feel more stable, and you can reduce or increase the intensity of the system.
