Aren't the OBD electronics and harness connectors manufactured by Bosch? Aren't these the same connectors used on nearly all fuel injected European cars of the era? Or did Ferrari custom spec something from Bosch that is unique from all other euro auto makers?

Thanks for all the input … I didn’t realize this was SUCH a passionate topic !!

I know I need to upgrade a bunch of my connectors - multiple boots have crumbled in my hands as I did basic maintainence (O2 boots, coil wire boot and crank sensor boot)… I don’t know where to buy boots and/or connectors that fit the 355 - the kit imho makes this part easy. I can get the pins/tools from various sources , but how do I know which connectors and/or boots are needed to properly fix a 355? Is there a list of connectors used on the 5.2 355 somewhere ?

You need a bunch of Bosch 2 positions connectors, some 3 position connectors, and a couple hundred Junior power timers pins. Boots are also sold to fit those connectors and readily found. Don't get the extra thick ones because they are impossible to use.

I haven't heard of anyone that has had problems. If one has a problem with the kit, its on the installer . A few on here have a problem with almost anything that comes up. Its the nature of the beast. I have also been to Dave Helms place and he is an amazing person and has come up with many remedies for the problems that many have with the F cars.

Man I thought we buried this issue long ago. Can't we just let it die? If you want to repin go ahead and do it. You chose whether you want to spend the very high cost for gold plated stuff (since the metal is way more costly now than before) or revert to factory tin. Either way the car will run better. Don't run your car in the rain if you have gold, not that we do or that it matters in the short run. Your gold or tin repins are probably going to out live you any way. So who cares? It's your money. Me, I'd do tin because I can't afford the upgrade. And I am totally fine with it. As for whether it was a scam or not - give it a rest guys.

I wouldn't say it was a scam, just ignorant to recommend gold pins where the mating pin is tin. Very good idea to create the kit but it should have included pins with coating matching the coating of what they connect to.

I like the advice "Don't run your car in the rain". I would also add: don't keep/store your car in humid environment and don't wash your engine.

Have you actually looked at the difference in cost of tin vs gold pins? Tin runs around $22/100. Similar in gold is around $28/100.

Call it what you like. It would never have sold at the asking price w/o the lure of gold.

Why? The car is designed to be used in the rain. I drive mine in the wet quite often, and it usually lives outside on the drive. I live in London. The car hasn't dissolved.

That statement was in regards to if the GCK has been installed in which case any water which gets into the contacts will act as an electrolyte and initiate galvanic corrosion of the tin on gold interface.

I'd also like to add a comment about re-pining in general. I would not just repin the entire harness if I had an electrical problem. Forget about tin or gold, but if you think you can manually correctly strip all the wires to the proper length without nicking some and then crimp them to the new contacts manually with even close to the precision and consistency that an automated system use for the fabrication of the harness can, I'd say you are dreaming. This is another case of don't fix what isn't broke. Find the area of the problem. Correct it and leave the rest alone.

Although the cars won't dissolve in the rain... unfortunately most of the weather sealing boots have dissolved. Likely due to heat exposure and limits of the materials used. I know mine have. Something I plan to address when the cradle is dropped next winter. Until then watch where you point that hose.

I really don't understand why people don't get this.

It's kind of like pouring water into acid. Just because this happens A happens does mean B won't.

I did call you. It was in direct relation to Post 64 in this thread.

Your response was "we don't sell those retail anymore, but for $1,000 we'll send a replacement".
Uhm...OK. I'll pass given the quality.

I ordered a proper set from Ricambi. They are working great.

I had an overheat issue on the car after I installed your burp tank hose.
Here is how well your silicon hoses work compared to a basic Federal silicone hose I happen to have:
