I go back and forth between the speciale and the GTS - impossible to pick a fave. For those of you who want to improve the sound without risking warranty just do a muffer delete. It’s exquisite and there is no idle drawl.

Yes we are talking as drivers here. And if you’ve driven both, you have to admit that even with the roof down or the rear window down, the GTS loses something to the SF from the driver’s perspective and experience.

I echo this sentiment. While the GTS sounds good, lined up next to a 599, for example, the exhaust note sounds thin and muffled. I own both. I do like the sound of the Novitec exhaust and may make that modification.

Don’t agree - it’s subjective. I prefer the driving experience of my GTS to my Superfast and actually don’t drive the Superfast much anymore. There’ll be a range of opinions on this but we each like what we like..

The high pitch that has defined a Ferrari for so long is not present in a GPF choked exhaust. You can try and argue that you like the sound of one versus the other but facts can't be ignored. As an example, the folks that always trade for the next new release take the risk of some really good things going away at the trade of lower perceived cost such as riding the older car into depreciation and getting some newer features or hp bump. This same phenomenon could be said for the shift to a future all electric Ferrari. They will say that it sounds better believe it or not when its just plain not be in the same universe. GPF is a step in that direction.

Assuming one prefers the higher pitch or even the higher decibels of the non pf cars, that’s still not the point. You’re still hearing that sound inside an enclosed space, so it’s like hearing something you prefer with ear muffs on compared to something that still sounds amazing without anything covering your ears, basically any gain of the non pf exhaust has over the pf one is lost cause it has to go through metal and insulation. This topic has been covered ad nauseam and everyone is entitled to their preferences, but in the context of moving from an F12 to a 812 GTS, one just gets a ‘better’ aural experience interacting with the exhaust with the top or little window down, or at worse gives up very little … certainly not enough to give anyone pause for going from an F12 to a GTS. At least that’s is my experience having driven all three cars. Start up and drive by videos are better in the non pf cars, but the GTS just sounds better to me in the driver’s seat … that said I’ve never driven mine with the top up.

I agree with all of this generally. But for those who really care about that F1 shriek sound and don’t want an aftermarket exhaust, it actually is an issue. Also, if it’s not dead of winter, a driver can roll the windows down in the Superfast when not on the highway and hear every kilohertz of F1 shriek unfiltered and it’s glorious! For those thinking of making the switch and love the F1 shriek, the thing to do is some how arrange to drive a GTS first before you plunk your money down to buy one.

I love my GTS , but if the F12 had hard top spider I might prefer that instead.
To me the F12 was more wild and raw , the GTS is more soft and refined.

One huge mistake with the 812, both SF and GTS is the stupid leather color choices that Ferrari has made. See the photo of my dash below, and see the cream colored leather going up around the right side of the instrument cluster, from the factory that color continues around the top of the instrument cluster, making the worlds worst reflection in the windshield! I had my daughter paint mine with some leather dye, matching Ferrari black. A friend has a yellow SF, his reflection is so bad, it is ridiculous. It takes less than an hour to fix it. The dye is water soluble, dries quickly, and is permanent and even flexible. Ignore the dirt on the dash. I did get to drive it today and see that I have 9,467 miles already in less than two years of driving. It happened to be 60 degrees F in NW Ohio today so I drove it to the office, eat your hears out those of you that don't drive in the rain, or if the weather is not perfect.

Not a bad fix. If you put 2 black thread stitches across that seam, it could even look stock. I have some trepidation about that same line around the 296 cluster, as my lower trim is in sabbia. o_O

No! No issue at all with the 488 Challenge Evo. Easy answer why. I had a seat poured and added all that lower back support I need.

All good, no bad, just funning. :)

As far as the footage ... again, what the audience hears isn't relevant to most drivers. I wish more people did accurate comp vids of what is heard from the seats, but that's even harder to capture than outside clips. that's why the JWW one with the Novitec exhaust is one of the best vids out there.

    I own an F12, 812SF and 812GTS.
The GTS is the clear winner here due to the ability of having to put the roof down.
It's such a day and night difference in this car, that the softer suspension setting and the GPF can't put it down.
Yes, the exhaust is a bit less pronoiunced in the GTS with the roof up, but you can quickly negate that be opening the rear small window. That's a game changer for enjoying the exhaust during less sunny days.
You could opt for an Novitec or other exhaust, but from hearing taht on other GTS's in real life and not some Youtube video's, I find that exhaust note quickly too much and so does everyone else in the street!
Sorry to say, but it has the tendancy to quickly go from "awesome" to "bit too much".
IMHO it doesn't fit the GTS' slylish and comfy drive and is more sauited to the 'sportier' models.
But power to anyone that wants a "car that does it all, including a screaming unhinged V12".

BTW I'm 6,2 and 220lbs and have electric comfy seats in my GTS, no issue whatsoever; not even when driving with my racing helmet on track.

You will 100% love the GTS; it's one of Maranello's truly greats.

I have a SF with racing seats and was considering the change until I sat in the GTS, I am 6 ft 1 and there is no way I could get comfortable in the GTS, I am not sure why it seems like there is so much less lateral distance but, it is a show stopper for me, waiting for the replacement to see if that is bigger but, I can happy make do with the SF for now
