I've had my car for 2.5 years and about 6K miles. Other than oil changes the only problem I've had was an AC compressor leak for about $500. I could have waited 3 weeks for the mechanic to get to it so instead I did it myself and it wasn't all that hard. Also, if I were truly cost focused about it I could probably have replaced the main compressor seal for $10 since the compressor itself was fine, otherwise.

Sure I'm due for my 5 yr engine out this winter and that'll cost $10K. But the car has been very reliable and I drive it as often as I can for both short and long distance trips. I've had brand new cars with more problems.

Well, I just bought a narrow body 993 driver that I’m super excited about. Enthusiast owned, lot of tasteful mods to suspension etc that I can put some miles on.
True to plan though I’m still going to get a 355. I’m going to look at a 355 berlinetta gated manual Saturday. My garage may look very different in the next couple of weeks! To answer above poster I’m budgeting 130-150 for the 355.

Congratulations on both! I am curious which one gives you the bigger grin when you drive it or which one you put more miles on.

Had to spend more than I planned on the 355 to get spec, and service history that I wanted but I knew this was the one to have. This car has been loved by its long term PO and it’s been great fun meeting him, hearing stories about the car and going for a long ride with him yesterday. I was especially reminded seeing him aged out of the car, struggling to get in and out, that it happens to all of us if we’re lucky and we are just temporary custodians.

Yesterday was one of those days that I cherish as an enthusiast (and my wife utterly doesn’t get)—woke up at 415 to drive 4 hours to meet seller, spent 6 hours there and drove home (the 355 is being shipped). In spite of a huge amount of internet research and talking with as many owners as I could, I wasn’t prepared for how much more beautiful the 355 is in person. The size relative to the more modern Ferraris, driving position, controls, touch points, performance and SOUND are perfect. It felt taut and immensely planted and solid. What a car!!

I am really eager to compare its contemporary 993. To experience a different makers solution to the same question

    Awesome garage!
My wife is so happy it’s snowing now so she and the kids can ski. I am bummed that I’m going to be getting two great cars that I probably won’t be able to drive for another 4 months
Thanks for the input and I look forward to contributing to the 348/355 community as I can
