Interesting compilation of the various brands of cars he drove over the years. https://www.nascarhall.com/blog/12-cale-yarborough-paint-schemes I most remember the '64 Ford Fastback: Image Unavailable, Please Login
People often forget that Cale drove the Indy 500 four times between 1966 and 1972, with a best finish of 10th in his last attempt. (It was a period when other NASCAR stars drove at Indy, including LeeRoy Yarbrough and both Bobby and Donnie Allison.) He also co-drove a Camaro in the 1981 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the car broke.
Back then they were not one trick ponies like all the drivers are now. Tony Stewart may just be the last of the "I'll drive anything with wheels" guys. End of a truly great era in American motor racing and Cale played a great big part in it. Rest in peace Cale
Maybe so, but I think that Kurt Busch was the last NASCAR regular to try the Indy 500, in 2014, where he did quite well.
At 52 Tony is still racing. Just not NASCAR. I'm talking about Sprint cars, Stock cars, Sports cars, Drag cars, Ovals, Road racing, Dirt, Pavement....you name it. It used to be the norm. Cale was one of them.
