Refs must not have holding in the ACC. Nice to see Bama losing important players and their DC.
Supposedly Dan Lanning was in Tuscaloosa yesterday. https://www.si.com/college/alabama/football/report-oregon-coach-dan-lanning-currently-in-tuscaloosa
It's remearkable that arguably the greatest coaches in college football and pro football history are both quitting within 24 hours of each other......
One already has, as of this morning, since then, I don't know. I am both a little surprised, but not surprised. Nick is worth over 100 million dollars, why the hell not get out and enjoy it, you can't take it with you. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I had even two million dollars...
These people have their lives, identify and their purpose all tied to their job. At some point money didn’t matter because they are all about their craft. Pete Carrol, Bill Bellicheat, etc.
You should be lined up and shot for putting Rivera in the same sentence as the other three. He doesn't even have a winning record (102-103-2), let alone winning ANYTHING to really speak of, unless one NFC championship is something...
It's like that with players in every sport, and especially football. It's all you have known since the age of 5, 10, 12 usually, sometimes 14 or 15, but the long, crappy practices, bus rides, getting killed every game, over and over, every year for many years, it's your life, it's all you know, it is very VERY hard when you get cut and never play again, you've lost your life, basically.
Smart guy said recently: Don't attach yourself to a person, place, an organization or a project. Attach yourself to a mission, a calling, a purpose only. That's how you keep your power and your peace.
The 'cheat' garbage is old... Spygate - it was already determined at least eight other teams did exactly the same thing, but that doesn't get publicized. Deflategate - that has been debunked a dozen times as making no difference. The game after this came out they beat Indy something like 42-7. What are the other 'gates'?
It's not that easy. Not everyone is built like that. Saban is - he went from winning a Nattie at LSU and jumped to Alabama... Players are totally different, they are on a calendar, clock, plan, schedule, and when those end, some are lost.
And some of them find they've been doing it for so long that they are lost after retirement. Look at Bear Bryant - he seemed to be in good health at retirement but died just a few months later. Maybe of boredom?
He blames it all on wearing ball caps backwards. https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/13/sport/nick-saban-college-sports-landscape-alabama-spt-intl/index.html Former football coach Nick Saban laments the current landscape of college sports
Quote the article where he says it is all because they wear their baseball caps backwards. Is there anything inaccurate in what he actually said here?
No. He blames it on NIL These kids are paid, have the ability to transfer.... because of that, don't respect any authority anymore.... they are enabled to be punks.... Saban is too old to deal with that.... He's not wrong. "college sports" when it comes to football and basketball now are basically just minor-league pros now.... the whole concept of student-athlete is dead.... they should just call is now and call them alumni-sponsored teams to promote the school in-name only.... nothing to do with academics anymore.... Just like at "At&t Stadium".... At&t's money, but the the Dallas Cowboys aren't playing for At&t
