I thought 0860 had an Allegretti rebody done earlier than 1981? Fantuzzi made the originals.

Carrozzeria Fiorenzo Fantuzzi in Modena fully restored 0860 in 1981.
Not Allegretti. PB would NEVER go there.

Should have known better re the source of the 0860 Allegretti re body info here. Is Carrozzeria Fiorenzo Fantuzzi the same Fantuzzi that built the original P bodies?

In the book Ferrari The Man The machines, we can read that the bodywork for the P3 was made by *Cigario*, a small workshop in Modena. Is this a mistake ?

Fiorenzo Fantuzzi is the son of legendary coachbuilder Medardo Fantuzzi. Fiorenzo continued his father's work with his own body restoration shop in Modena where he employed several very talented panelbeaters including (former mailman) Franco Ferrari and others. Fiorenzo Fantuzzi is still alive and lives in Modena. Franco Ferrari opened up his own shop when Fiorenzo closed his premises.
Fiorenzo Fantuzzi did many Ferrari restorations for Bardinon, Violati, Sage, Apicella, Freshman, Fehlmann, Pappalardo, Obrist, etc.
    They also did some Miuras.
See also my 4-page article about Carrozzeria Fantuzzi in Ferrari Market Letter, Volume 25 Number 2 of 29 January 2000.

Why was it rebodied? Crashed? Or restored wrongly?

Like 0858, late in 1967 330 P4 0860 had been modified by Ferrari into a 350 Can Am.

It's on David Piper's P4 replica that uses the spare engine, transaxle and suspension from 0858 after 0858 was modified by Ferrari as a 350 Can Am.

This question, while well-meaning, unintentionally creates more confusion.

David Piper has a number of green cars but only one green P4 replica.

AFAIK, Pipes has the following Ferrari P cars in green; 0824, 0836, “0900”, and at least one additional copy of 0900. Hell, I’ve even heard that there’s ‘some punk in NY’ who owns another one of the Piper 0900 copies- although that one may not be green anymore.
My point is not to chastise your post, but to remind that it pays to be specific when referring to the green stable of Mr. David Piper. Cheers.

Do we know if Bardinon tried to acquire the body back from Piper at some point?
