I know there is someone that rebuilds them. I don't know if it is in Italy or elsewhere. Try to find user cirurgia digestiva thread on his Motec and abs conversion, find the name of the engineer or the shop contact them as they should know.

    Spot on ;)

The older original journal bearing turbos can be rebuilt by anyone, they are common IHI to many many cars of era.

Newer style replacement ball bearing turbo is also a common IHI cartridge(unique spec/trim to ferrari however), but requires special equipment and unavailable parts to rebuild.... so send it back to IHI's rebuilding arm Clover turbo in Germany and they will rebuild it.

Do you have any F40 IHI VU12B or VU13B spec turbos or know of sources that have ones that need rebuilding?

They don't have. Turbo's are refurbished by an Italian company in Northern Italy that have all spare parts.
