There is currently no faster car than the 296. This time Ferrari made a simply crazy car

No. The aero will make it slower than a standard SF90 coupe non-AF package car in a straight line. Around a track will be a different story, however.

So Ferrari doesn't actually have a faster car than the 296 sold today?

It’s funny as on mclarenlife they are saying nothing is faster than the 750s. One comment was even “don’t get me wrong the 750s smashed the drag race against the Ferrari but with better tyres we may have seen way more!”

Currently having a 296 and previously having a 765lt I can say that the 296 is just as fast as the 765lt.

one important note is with the video The 296 was on Bridgestone and the 750s was on pirelli. Would like to see them on the same tires to see how close they are.

Here’s my .02. 750/765/296 are all close enough that whoever gets off the line best is winning the 1/4.

From the data I’ve been, 765 is quickest from 60-160 but with the instant torque 296 puts out who knows.

but there’s not a lot between these cars. Comes down to other factors for ownership.

Agreed. Conduct that race with different drivers, maybe different results. Conduct in different weather, maybe different results. All amazing and crazy fast.

The tires don't change which makes a competition out of place. The 296 from driving mode was faster than the McLaren and if the track was a kilometer longer you would understand how much the difference has grown

From a roll, maybe the SP3. But doubt it.

McLaren life is going to lean towards Macs (and of course they’re going to be angry with the results as well), but head to head races on video in same locations in the same conditions are the best indicator of actual performance. During head to heads from a roll (removing the AWD advantage), it looks it’s 296, SF90, 765 and then 750S, in that order.

I know the owner of the 296. He was very happy with this result!

Ferrari is shockingly quick there’s no doubt. In good weather it’s a sub 10 second car on the street all day. Just seems to never stop pulling either.

Well, up to a certain (very high) speed, the XX should be quicker than the non AF SF90 Stradale, due to its slight increase in power and shorter gearing. That said, no matter what videos show, the regula SF90 Stradale has been clocked as significantly quicker than the already mental 296.

AFAIK there is no mechanical difference between European and North American (current) Ferraris. Could it be a petrol (gas) issue? I think though that we can all agree that both are crazy quick!

I’ve owned both. My 296 has been clocked as quicker than my SF90 using my own Dragy. Multiple videos of head to head racing shows the 296 as being faster from a roll. Car and Driver had a faster trap speed in the 296 then they did in the SF90 (which translates directly to roll-on acceleration). Stop fighting reality, Zeus. The 296 is the overall faster car. You’re never going to win this argument, my friend!

I would like to think that you are a man of science. Science takes multiple measurements and averages them out. Here you are then: https://zeperfs.com/en/duel7937-10022.htm

Of course. But Zperfs uses an average. An average that probably includes runs for 296s (and SF90s) that were not in Qualify mode (meaning less power), or not using fuel with the optimal octane levels, or runs in terrible conditions such as high altitude and/or high humidity. That’s why Zperfs averages need to be completely ignored/dismissed.

When comparing performance for cars, we want to compare their best times, in the best conditions, preferably head to head, so that we can filter out the performance impacting nuances that Zperfs averages include. And in these conditions; proper fuel, proper drive mode, equal conditions and environment, head to head, the 296 continues to out accelerate the SF90 from a roll each and every time.

As I said before. The 296 is the faster car and you will never win this argument!

Zeperfs is an aggregator of magazines and proffessional testers that tested the cars in their optimal settings. Keep saying what you want...

I know what it is, I understand the data it uses, and the manner that it uses it. It doesn’t reflect best to best, or head to head, and that’s why it should be dismissed. As far as me saying what I want, I’m simply saying what has been proven time and time again. The 296 is the faster overall car.

If the opposite were true, where the SF90 was proving to be the faster car, that is exactly what I’d be saying. But that is simply not the case. And as a current SF90 owner, I’m not afraid to admit it.

If you remove the QR time for the SF90 (which is far quicker than any other) 296 is quicker, on average. From a roll of course.

Well, I don't know why you say that. Deducing from the numbers shown on the link I provided, the Stradale does the 200 to 300 kph dash in 10.1'', on average. The 296 takes 11.2''.

FWIW there’s, from my research, a lot more published 296 data than SF90 data. For publications that tested both I found QR (an Italian magazine), Autocar, a British one that published in mph (296 was quicker for them) and three American magazines published in mph (296 was quicker for them).

The QR SF90 tested much quicker in a straight line than any of the others. Trapping over 150 mph vs 145/146 in America and 147 in UK mags.

I don’t know what Zeperfs uses for their underlying data points. Do they provide direct references (ie this value came from here) or they just publish ranges and say we got the values from somewhere?

Hi all. It was my 296. I launched it myself as well on the day. Unbelievable speed. I have slow motion video on the 2nd and 3rd runs and the 296 tyres were cold and slipping. I will see if we can get a run in the summer on better rubber. We all agreed the 296 was the fastest car there.
