Ahah- I wrongly assumed your repro wheels were from Tanner. Are you happy with the quality? Also I recall a mate bought the SuperP wheels and they were highly polished aluminium...didnt look right...might have been an optional finish from this supplier im not sure. Mr Fiat had repro Campagnolos for 246 a year ago with both the campy logo and Dino logo. I tried to but he was out of stock
They are very very good quality. The only difference from the originals is that they are much smoother, not a rough sand cast finish, which is great because they are so much easier to clean and secondly the font of the Campagnolo name see post#1. The centre campagnolo inserts are perfect, I didn't think dino inserts were fitted but I could be wrong, to me they don't look right
Are the Superperformance Campys polished alloy; powder coated or painted? The Dino logo I'm referring to is raised lettering on the actual wheel - not wheel centres. Thisogo along with the Campagnolo logo featured in the orig sandcast wheels.
I just got these from Superformance. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Powder coated and they do not have the dino logo cast on the wheel. refer to post #1 for details on casting and logo.
My 1978 308 GTS came with the Chairs and Flairs wheels from the factory, and they are exactly as described by the quoted poster. Including the spare which has never been used. Sorry I do not have a close up picture at the moment. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It would be interesting to see if these wheels have the Dino logo on them. Please have a close look and let us know. I should have read Mathias dino compendium a little better, it has them listed. I'll go to the back of the class and try harder!!
They say DINO and then Campagnolo on the opposite side of the rim. Interestingly, my door light switches also say Dino on them, but I imagine that is common? The original owner of my car also had a gorgeous silver 246 GTS Chairs and Flairs Dino previous to the 308, and I believe that car is owned by a doctor in Maine. I have pictures of the 246 next to my car delivered new and post later. Sorry to hijack the thread, but I wanted to answer the question.
No Problem, I am just curious as to why they put these on the replacement car ie 308. Surplus stock? never seen a 308 with Campagnolo wheels only the 5 spoke design tony
It was a special order car. Lots of interesting details, look at the roof. The of photos of this car being made in the factory.
Original campaganolos are12 pounds, reproduction campagnolo wheels are 17 pounds. The original cromodoras are also 12 pounds.
There were two types of Campagnolo wheels being made that were nearly identical; - ones with "Dino" and "Campagnolo" in the casting rim and another - it only says "Campagnolo" in the casting rim
I am experimenting with a rebuild of a Deon ,hoping to convert 4x 98 wheels to 5x 108 with 7.5 x 14 Campagnolo wheels. Does anyone have an old/ damaged wheel- or even a full set of reproduction wheels I might consider buying. Any feedback on sourcing would be appreciated Many thanks
I’m bringing this thread back from the dead! I would love to see current photos of the repro Campy wheels that are available from Superformance, DinoParts and Mr. Fiat. I’m mostly interested in seeing the fronts and what words if anything are cast into them. Campagnolo? Dino? Nothing?
I bought repo Campy’s from Superformance about 15 years ago. They are on my blue Dino. They look really nice, but I am not sure if they are the same as the current offering. I would think they are, but no idea
Here's a pic of one of my Superformance-sourced repros, also purchased nearly 15 years ago. As can be seen, "CAMPAGNOLO" is cast into the rim, but not "Dino." All five rims are identical. The blue-on-gold Campy sticker was provided by Hall Pantera, here in SoCal.
The pictures on the Dinoparts web site aren’t very detailed…at all…but Stefan will probably provide the information or more descriptive pictures if you request it.
Thank you. I would love to see any photos of the current product to see if “Campagnolo” is cast into the wheel. I’d also be curious if the Superformance, DinoParts and Mr. Fiat versions are the same and from the same manufacterer.
Crikey, was it 10 years ago i posted that, where did that go!! The Superformance Campagnolo wheels were cast from a spare original i had at the time and have no reason to doubt if this has changed. However as companies are getting increasingly sensitive about their Tm's the logo may have been removed. A quick call to SF would remove any doubt Tony
That’s what I was thinking. Since yours were apparently cast on a custom basis…unless I misunderstood your meaning…it’s likely that the currant “production” run wheels don’t carry the original branding.
The images on DinoParts website shows it with Campagnolo cast into it. The image on Superformance is far too small to see. I did send them an email to ask. Tony, interesting that they took a cast of one of your wheels. They must have taken off the Dino casting and the rough casting marks. Maybe they digitized it and cleaned it up?
