Okay long time Fcar owner and long time Fchat subscriber (2 x 308GT4's, 328GTS) and driven a few other varieties over the years (355, F12, Speciale etc)

I've taken a bit of a punt on an 2011 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE 27,000 miles at auction in the UK. And I'd welcome any comments (good or bad)

It seems to have a full service history and stamped books, manuals etc but was I believe rear ended and CAT D'd earlier in its life. Since then its done something like 10k miles. It was not repaired by an approved Ferrari bodyshop so has dropped out of the official Ferrari "register" or similar. I have yet to speak directly with the owner and get the full history.

I'm about to settle up with the Auction site and Carrs in Exeter have agreed to pick it up for me and take if off for a thorough check over, full service plus whatever else needs doing. I'm out of the country right now.

    First, am I completely mad?

Anyone know this car? - please PM me if anything as I don't yet own it and wouldn't want to infer anything towards the current owner of course, who I have no reason to believe is anything other than straight up.

Its my first 12cyl Fcar and certainly the most modern car I have ever owned. Any tips or tricks other than the obvious...... would be very welcome. Image Unavailable, Please Login
PS I'm pretty excited to get my hands on it of course...!
    Cheers

Congratulations on your new purchase! From what I can see, the car is by no means perfect but it is a great base for a project! It has every single optional accessory you could put on a GTB (apart from the carbon engine bay panel) which I love, plus it is an HGTE!
From what I can see the car can definitely benefit from a sticky button treatment and some touch-ups here and there but otherwise pretty solid deal!

LL Hey thanks a lot for the reply! And thanks for confirming what I’m hoping that it’s basically sound but requires some tidying up.
Sticky switches are clearly an issue and some of the trim is loose in trunk and footwells. There are parts of the under tray and front splitter that look a bit tatty but I’m hopeful Carrs can put most of that right. They’ll also make sure it’s all straight , remove any underside panels, wheel well covers etc to make sure all is pointing in the right direction. Clutch report and brake condition report etc etc.
Is there anything else I should look out for?
No doubt costs will be proportionally up on what I’m used to but I want it to be the best it can be. Looking forward to it all!
    Cheers

I'm sure Carrs will be very thoro' - previous threads (& 456/575 area) suggest motor mount could be worth a check too - oh and tire age

She sure is pretty friend. I think you will love driving the v12 - I joined the 599 club this Christmas and I have loved every second of my v12 ownership. The cars are so pretty and they drive like a dream. Drive the wheels off of yours friend. Worry not about the pedigree of your car - you own it so enjoy it. Who cares about the accident if it drives well? You own a v12 Ferrari Supercar I say enjoy it!

Thanks for the comments so far! Really looking forward to this one - its my first V12 after a string of V8's. I love the looks and the apparent single mindedness of the design. I'm interested to find out more about the options available in 2011 as a lot of them seem to have ended up on my car.

I get possession today (or Carrs do on my behalf until I get there next week) and looking forward to being wrapped up in all that engineering and leather.

Thanks Justin. You never know.... I'll be between the west country/Sheffield/London so Oxford falls somewhere in between - I would drop you a line well in advance of course. Being new to the 599 it would be good to to another owners view etc

    Snow storms permitting of course..

    Cheers
