Well, if you order a car with livery or painted shields the car will be painted by hand and not machine. This is nothing I have made up, this is what Ferrari tells you. You should ask your dealer. This has nothing to do with Atelier or Tailor Made cars; if they have no livery or shields, they go through the normal automated painting process.

The AF livery I suppose is painted by hand. I never looked into it bc it’s ugly to me. The car itself, beyond the livery, isn’t. The shields aren’t. You can have the shields done at a reputable body/paint shop. Just need the pattern.

Well, I am not a native speaker and I will not discuss with you things, that you "suppose". All my informations say, that if you order any stripe or pattern on the car, it is handpainted. Does not mean "free-hand" but by hand. Unfortunately all videos I could add to proof this are in german language, but my information from the Ferrari Dealer is the same: If you order anything on the car the rest of the car will be hand-painted. Thats why I asked if anybody has an idea, if this makes it better or worse. It was not the question, if you like the stripe or if you suppose something, just proven information. Anything else I call gossip. But if you are SURE then this is an important information for me.

Don't take any of this as rude, hard to imply tone over text sometimes. Paint quality seems important to you, right? I totally get you're trying your absolute best to find a way to insure that your car comes out painted perfectly. I just don't know if that's possible. I can't even tell you with any certainty that the hand painted liveries wouldn't be worse quality than the robot painted body work. Hopefully that makes sense. I think the only thing you can control is your detail shop that does up the car post delivery.

I am not sure if I understand what you say. Is there a ¾ layer paint and a special paint ¾ layer or is that the same ? Would mean if I go for a ¾ layer it will be done somewhere else ?!

3/4 layer , say Rosso Fuoco or Magma , are top of the range , normally done outside from what I have been told.

The out of range colours and 3 and 4 layer metallics used to be sent out to Zanasi for painting but I believe Ferrari took much of it in house after further investment in their paintshop facilities with new paint booths installed to cater for these hand applied paints and the various liveries etc.

That may explain why my first to 3 layer paints had zero problems and my last 2 didn’t.

I hope they are done in house now it may avoid the issues that have been reported here . It still adds time to production , four weeks I am told , as the chassis does not run down the whole paint line . Fingers crossed for me everyone as I will end up with either Fuoco or Magma , leaning Magma at the moment . Yes I know it is not an ‘original’ Ferrari colour , however in the samples from the dealer it just has better ‘richness’ in many different lights the way I see it

Grigio Ferro was $32,904. At that price you should just order a 3 layer paint or PTS. When my car arrived there was no window sticker. I was expecting a $410-420K total. I had to work with the dealer to reconstruct the total. Paint price and increase in 2023 base price were a surprise to both of us.

    OUCH!
You got the paint $ hit and the base price increase too, what was the % increase on the base price?
Grigio Silverstone was ordered as an EXTC for my Roma, from what I have been reading, that is now a PNTH chargeable item in the 12K-13K.

In my contract there is an option to cancel the order if there is an increase of 5% or more. And right now I would do that. The base price compared to the predecessor is huge and there is a limit where I will not accept 10 or 15%.

mad how expensive the options can get, with cars selling at £230k here in the UK atm you'd lose around £150k if you sold it!

Of course another irritant is the $5-10000 dollars I’ve spent on paint ”correction” each time.

296 gts would be my 5th Ferrari now, I always wanted to do Rosso 70th Ani, and when I was quoting it on my SF90 Last year it was 12 or 14k, now dealer quoted me $32,000,

I’m doing Rosso Maranello. It’s listed as 4 layer. Cost is $32,904. Dealer says I’ll have the car in late September / early October (so November?)
