Nice Maserati (pl)!
Yes, they cater for the masses as well as collectors. Their market is multi tiered, so is Hermes, Chanel etc. A Marc Jacobs designed LV bag is a rare item and if it’s a runway piece, it’s a one off and highly sort after. Ask me how I know……
Thongs and LV bag from Bali would work as one stumbled out of the Coolum Beach SC after happy hour, she has NFI about any of those high-end brands and just assumes they are only bought by mainland Chinese or women in Japan who have saved for months to buy one small LV bag ..................and I say good luck to them if that's what makes them feel good.
Cheers Greg, great to catch up too! It was a decent turnout, first time for me I really enjoyed how casual it was and all the different cars people brought along, not just Maseratis… very welcoming
No, Hermes is NOT part of the Arnault group (like all the others you mention) - still family owned, still only 300 outlets worldwide, not to mention much more subtle branding... Kena's numberplate post hit the nail right on the head - sure lots of people (within the bubble) make a ton of money on these things.
Actually, the Japanese go out of their way to buy authentic. Most young women in Japan with a designer handbag would have saved and bought a real one. They're like Greg - they like to pay more, and be seen to be paying more.
Well der, I never said it was part of LVMH, although LVMH now own 20% of Hermes. Another pointless FChat argument as Ian would say. How many private Hermes events have you been invited to?
Not true. I pay to get what I want and not miss out on something. Bought a new OHOS today and paid near asking price because I wanted it and wasn’t going to miss out. Life is too short to lowball and miss out BTW, Mel buys all her own stuff and as a result I get invited along and get to see inside the world of these luxury brands. When you get to personal shopper level like she is, you get it.
