Some of you may have been following, but I recently traded in my 458 spider for a 488 spider. I actually got the 458 spider at Scottsdale Ferrari, which is where I happen to go back and get this one at as well. Overall experience was OK, and that’s being generous.

This is a 2017 with 7800 miles on it. Car pretty much looked brand new inside and out. The only exception was it had a lot of love marks on it from the prior owner not properly washing and drying. I am a big fan of silver or gray cars. This is the first one I have owned in gunmetal gray – I forgot the Italian translation. This might be one of my favorite colors of all time.

The weather here has been pretty bad. However, I was able to do a full wash, clay, decontamination, and then paint correction, followed by polishing. I then applied AMMO NY ceramic coating. Having a well lit and heated garage helps. Big fan of Larry’s AMMO products and YouTube channel.

Some of the observations I have about comparing the two beyond the obvious list that has been repeated a number of times on this forum: my car does not have sports seats, which I’m a big fan of, I seem to sit a little higher in this car than I like; the break and gas pedal are very close – with the foot on the gas I can constantly feel the brake pedal rubbing up against it. I will add more pictures at a later time when it’s nicer out.

    Nice car!!

A local guy here in Denver just bought a very similar looking gunmetal 488 with cuoio interior as well. Not everyone takes care of these cars the same…that’s for sure. My recent 488 purchase needed some love for the paint as well and a detail

Really nice, might be Canna di Fucile the color. Did you manage to get the "love marks" out with your detailing?

Yes the pedal spacing is tight in these cars. I've found wearing narrowing shoes helps a lot though eg. Puma, Piloti, or loafers.

The interior color (Beige Tradizione) is lighter than Cuoio and darker than Tan. An absolutely luscious color.

It's fairly easy to move the brake pedal slightly to the left. Limited by the fact there's only one more hole to the right to allow this, but it's still an improvement for those of us with wide feet/shoes...

Assuming you've had more seat time, what are your personal impressions of 488 vs 458?

so far, pretty much like everything more across-the-board on the 488. I think the only exception is probably the motor. I just like the way the 458 sounded and wound out. It’s not that the 488 sounds bad but it’s not the same experience. Now, that said, this is just weighing pros and cons of things you like in a car and things you don’t. i’m willing to give up the great noise and exchange for much better fit and finish, much better interior quality, much better technology, etc. 488 also does handle and break better.
