Greetings, amazing Ferrari community. I want to check with you on pricing of this car...
It's a big MSRP car(carbon buckets, LED steering wheel, carbon engine bay, etc). Price seems in line with how hard it is to find a car with buckets/big MSRP these days in a good color.
Thank you so much for weighing in! I am very close to pulling a trigger, so every piece of feedback is appreciated. Especially, when it comes to options vs. price. Considering, I was following this topic for quite some time, I thought that bringing it here makes the most sense - it is a real life example of what's happening now
Few thoughts: - for the record, given the thread context, this is a 240k msrp car selling for 215k firm - 25k depreciation in 8yrs. Incredible value-holder (assuming he/she gets what they are asking or anywhere near it) - I’m not certain, but it seems the msrp doesn’t match the options. I don’t recall exactly but I think a car with that many options from 2013 would carry a higher MSRP. I also notice that the paddles are aluminum but the wheel is carbon, while part of the dash is aluminum and the center console is carbon. I’m not sure I’ve seen a mismatch of CF/aluminum trim like that. Makes me curious if some of that extensive carbon (engine bay doesn’t have the oem stickers on it, perhaps engine bay) could be aftermarket - if it is aftermarket, then IMO 215k is doable but seems on the high side. If it’s all OEM, 215k seems right on in my eyes. Assuming no ownership oddities thefts accidents etc.
Hi Rory, Thanks for your input. 1. Is there any chance this MSRP is not for "new car" but some "certified pre-owned" 5 years 10k miles price? 2. I agree, that MSRP is off. Based on my research, it is impossible to get 458 with so much of carbon (even assuming that some of it is after market) on that MSRP. Can you please post an image/link to those OEM stickers? Is there any way for me to figure out is it OEM vs. after-market? Thanks again for your help!
The MSRP definitely does not match that MSRP posted in the image. Here's my 2011 that started at 225k with tons of options/carbon. I have seen someone post a link to a "sticker" creator for Ferrari's where you can input the options you have and what they may have cost to create a new sticker. Seems like that may have been done incorrectly because carbon buckets were not standard. You can pay to get the original sticker as well but I believe you have to call the dealer that the car was originally sold too. Image Unavailable, Please Login
1 - yes, that is not an original window sticker it’s a reprint. Not a reprint from a dealer either, it looks like one of those generic ones 2 - re stickers - look at any stock 458 engine bay pic, you’ll see 2 visible Ferrari-applied stickers (one for oil, one for something else I don’t remember) on the left (?) side as I recall. They fall off pretty easily over time so either a) could have fallen off or b) not OEM Also - OEM Ferrari CF is a diff weave pattern than most aftermarket CF parts. If the weaves are different, again, you know it’s aftermarket Just ask the seller what mods the car has. Looks like springs, wheels, exhaust are aftermarket, so CF could be too. Again in my mind, nothing at all is wrong with aftermarket, it’s even preferable when it’s done right and by a top tier tuner. I’d rather have all CF and have it be a good quality aftermarket part like Novitec Fabspeed Vorsteiner etc than boring aluminum/stock body/etc. You should just know what’s what before you buy it and find out later.
Thanks for your help! To stay relevant to this theme, let's say one year from (assuming +5k miles and good service care), I am not going to lose 20% of the car's value. Just because of options and color. Right? Off topic: do you have any idea of wheels and exhaust brands? I found more images here: https://tacticalfleet.com/2013-ferrari-458-italia/ UPDATE: found exhaust https://ipeofficial.com/products/ferrari-458-italia-exhaust
eBay in general jacked up the fees and also makes you fill out a 1099 for taxes. Also way too much fraud on eBay and very little seller protection.
Exhaust, springs, wheels. Everything else is coming from factory based on his words. It’s hard to track the history when I am going to be Owner 9.
This 2014 458 Spider with 2500 ODO sold for MSRP on BAT. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2014-ferrari-458-spider-22/ 2500 miles in 10 years. Just typing that makes me sad.
Happy to report: 458 Italia for $205,000.00 Thanks for all the help with answering my questions in this topic! Excited to join the community!

Wow! The fact that car got 200k is again a testament to how well these cars hold, and how the drop across the market isn’t & won’t affect the 458 as much as other cars. Even with the low miles it’s a weak spec, THE most undesirable color, and 2011. Still 200k. Strong!
I thought my 78 308 GTB in Fly Yellow way back when was going to be a hard sell due to color, but must say it was was one of the easiest!
I hear it both ways on the 2010s and 2011s. Some people shy away because of the transmissions. Some people love them because of what is said to be better sound.
pricing is a bit down at the moment, never been a better time to buy a 458 in my opinion. I've monitored 458 pricing for several years and they did a normal decline when 488 came out but then started going back up, roughly 15% increase was observed for the lower end of the spectrum, but that has evaporated in the current market / economy and I can't recall any other time when 25+ cars were available under $190K.
I looked for about 6 months. Found my unicorn. 2013 red/tan, yellow calipers, carbon buckets, carbon dash/wheel/console, "carbon" floor mats, front lift, cruise control, led steering wheel, premium sound, nav. About the only thing it didn't have was backup camera. 33k miles. paid 170K (negotiated down from 184K due to some minor issues which I'll actually fix myself for ~$5K or less).
In 2018 I bought my 2012 458 red/tan with ok options and 5k miles on it for 183k. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
