Thanks Tommy. Yes, it’s plug-n-play just like the non CD version and install was very easy. As for the buttons I had the entire sticky buttons/switches refinished from Sticky RX on my 2007 F430 Spider.
Hello and thanks for all this great information. Did you learn that an external amp was needed for this radio, or did the internal amp prove sufficient? Thanks again.
Yes that’s correct. Removing the OEM head unit and replacing it with the the Continental unit described here, and curious if that’s sufficient or if an external amp is needed. Our F430 had the hi fi option along with the subwoofer, but most of that has been removed. Blank canvas. Thanks.
If the car has the hi-fi option, it still has the hi-fi stereo harness. If you're planning on adding an aftermarket amplifier and don't want to hack up the hi-fi harness, Scuderia Audio has you covered. 100% plug and play 420 Watt amp (for hi-fi systems only): https://scuderiaaudio.com/product/360-430-super-amplifier/ Adapter for any aftermarket amp to hi-fi system: https://scuderiaaudio.com/product/360-430-hi-fi-amp-adapter/ Complete aftermarket amp kit for hi-fi systems: https://scuderiaaudio.com/product/360-430-hi-fi-amplifier-kit/ PM me for details.
Thanks for all of the super helpful information. I’m still sorting out how much of the original harness is in place, vs what was modified when the aftermarket equipment was installed previously. One way or another I will piece it back together. My biggest search will be for the cabinet and other pieces that sat behind/between the seats - and then to get those wrapped in the proper leather/stitching.
I’ve got the factory BOSE system in my 08 spider and the original Becker POS. The sound is amazing but the functionality of the Becker drives me round the twist. Can I do a straight replace for the head unit with the Continental - will it link to the BOSE amp and multi speaker set up without hassle?
Yep, I put the continental radio in with jbl club speakers in the door. I already had polk in the box between the seats. I just wanted decent sound and I got more than what I expected because it sounds great.
Hello All, I’m in the process of upgrading the Becker unit. I already have everything upgraded thanks to Scuderia Audio (Focal speakers, JL Sub and Misconi Pico amps). I just held off on the head unit but I can’t do it anymore. 1) Can anyone clarify if the s Artist/Song is displayed when streaming Bluetooth with the Continental unit? 2) Has anyone used any Blaupunkt units? Thank you.
Why not look at the PowerAcoustik unit? Lots of recent threads, including my own, on that unit. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I have looked at and I am considering the Power Acoustik from Wal-Mart however I kind of like the retro/classic look of the Continental. I also like that it has a knob for the volume. But if it doesn’t display the track/artist when streaming Bluetooth then it’s a dealbreaker for me and I will likely go with the Power Acoustic. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Just wanted to add an update to this. The Continental unit is NOT plug and play. Yes it will work but the constant power and switched (car contact on) power are reversed on our car as opposed to what the unit is expecting. And you won't get any lights on the button as the pin for lightening the buttons is missing (at least it does on my F430 with amp/ subs ) . Plus you can't power on the unit if car is off if you don't wire it up properly. If you want more info ping me .... I used the power plug (lowest plug labelled A) that came with the unit and rewired with an adapter without hacking the car wires to the right pins. You can put the button lights power to the switched power and it comes on as soon as you turn on the key.
