Question for those more familiar with the brand than I.

My first Ferrari was a Roma. My 2nd an F12. I feel like the Roma full throttle upshifts are both more immediate (fine), but also less physical movement of the occupant, (I get thrown forward and back again more in the F12, less fine).

Is this because older car/gearbox or just something that is common in the v12 lineup for some reason? I'm hoping f167 will be more like the Roma and less like the F12 in this respect.

    2020 - Current
    Ferrari Roma: 3.9L, TTV8 with 456 kW; 612 hp (620 PS) with 8-speed Magna 8DCL900 dual-clutch
    Vs
    2012 - 2017
    Ferrari F12: 6.3L, N/A V12 with 544 kW; 730 hp (740 PS) with 7-speed F1 DCT[2] dual-clutch

They are very different beasts because of many different factors as per above.
I have not driven the Roma but I would still say its a case of Pony with Horse and I would take the Horse every time.

My guess is you are feeling the difference between (likely) closer spaced ratios on the Roma + (likely) faster shifts on the Roma + (very likely) higher compression ratio of the V12 = when you interrupt that power flow/ you will feel it more/ when you take your foot off the gas on the V12 with some revs, you will feel it more. It's a question of preference but I prefer the V12 because it feels more powerful to me. But until we get experience its impossible to say if the next one will exhibit the same behavior- however- I would imagine it will be less smooth than the Roma as the point of the V12 is DRAMA and the Roma is aimed to be a little more gentle. This is just my pure speculation.

    Description of F167 from Autopareri:

“Dealers have already seen the car, as a clay model in Lime green paint. Said front ls like a Daytona, low and with a black line across the bottom of the bonnet. Lights flicks up at ends, out of black strip. Two low vents in the bonnet, like a daytona. Side looks corvette ish (like a muscle car). Back like a SF90 with a LED stripe running along the back of the car (like some images in this chat feed), with two rectangular cut outs in the rear bumper. Summary, a Modern aggressive retro muscle car ) Also has two glass sunroofs, like the Bugatti Chiron's moon roof”

Can someone repost that high altitude Photo of what we thought was split window one off? Because we now know that was clearly the F167 with its double moon roof !

Thanks guys, one more data point that I forgot to add, I have also driven a 296 a few times. The 296 also felt less "violent" despite having more power. This could be either the hybrid electric motor taking some of the edge off during upshifts but might also be a result of the faster gearbox I suppose.

Yes F12 is definitely more drama than Roma which I do enjoy, my wife however is another story! Less violence on upshifts on F167 would be nice if also faster etc.

Ooof! Was naively hoping for something closer to the 812 SF plus a bit for inflation. Even a modestly specced car would exceed £400k which is a huge leap.

Don’t think it’s naivety, but certainly it’s not a ‘bit’ of inflation. We have gone along way past 2018 prices with regard to inflation, and car will be priced for 2025 on the road..

    Corvette and sunroof?

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/149251250/

Full width LED strip at back? When I posted this, comments from some that said lights across the back were NOT continuous… (hmm)

Glass sunroof comment matches the observation stated recently that ‘windshield continues into roof’…

Really interesting to see the different descriptions from different sources for the same car.

On the difference between the engines

Roma V8 turbo compression ratio 9.45:1
296 GTB V6 turbo hybrid compression ratio 9.4:1

    V12
    F12 V12 Compression ratio: 13.5:1
    812 V12 Compression ratio: 13.6:1

I am sure the smoothness from the hybrid helps. This is quite some difference in compression on these engines- and typically the case is turbo engines are lower because they add so much more pressure via the turbo than atmospheric pressure. Driving with your wife/ nervous passengers: try wet mode (the modes change the shift pattern and also even engine map), use auto transmission mode or use manual and short shift- this is probably the best idea. Another idea is F12 is just a you driving experience. Not every passenger will love such a powerful experience.

On the new car- very exciting ideas here. Cant wait to see what they come up with.

Showing the car to dealers as a “lime green model,” suggests to me that it shows itself better in lighter, brighter colors.
