Hi, my name is Kris. I am 16 years old and I'm a humongous Ferrari fan. The 296 is my favorite Ferrari production car on sale right now with it's insane hybrid 3.0L V6 setup and styling cues from the 250 LM. I wanted to ask some owners, what is it like to drive and how does it feel to drive the 296? Any replies would be great, thank you! Also, a photo of your 296 spec would be amazing, if at all possible!

The 296 does 0-60 in 2.4 seconds…the same time it takes to search this site and answer your own questions.

    Welcome aboard kid.

read, read, read. So much good information on here to go down the Ferrari rabbit hole with.

To answer your question, remember everything is relative to individual experience. If you’re 16, I’m assuming you haven’t driven much (or at all). I promise the 296 would be overwhelming and epic. But so would many lesser cars.

don't worry about the old grouches, they don't want to accept any new enthusiasts like they were when 16. I guess by the time they die there won't be anyone interested in their car and it will sell for junk.

I became an enthusiast myself around 14-16 when Magnum PI and Miami Vice were playing weekly on TV and I saw a newish Testarossa in person.

I test drove a 296 this past summer and it seems to be a great combination of modern refinement and computers with the Ferrari soul performance, sounds, and looks.

If your goal is to own a Ferrari when you can, I suggest familiarizing yourself with some more classic models too. They will financially be in reach before a 296.

Take it easy pops. I'm still laughing. Nothing wrong with razing the new kid. To make his post he had to literally scroll past all the posts that answer his questions. That's hilarious. I did the same thing when I joined here and got the same response. And laughed. More coming so buckle up.

There are 15M posts, everything has been talked about 100x+ times. This is a community forum, not a encyclopedia of single perspective and published words. He introduced himself to the community and was very polite unlike you.

Please don't raze someone on a polite first post. We should be encouraging youngsters to ask about the driving dynamics of a Ferrari. It's amazing he's not on a Tesla Instagram page fawning over Elon Musk, and this genuinely gives me hope. Also... I'm now not the youngest person on the forum anymore. :D

Welcome @KristheFerrariBoi! I'm afraid I can't help with the question as I don't know what the 296 is like to drive either. I'm curious to know too. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Here’s mine. Out of the 6 Ferraris I’ve owned this is my favorite so far. The speed is close to the 765lt but it’s a lot more comfortable. The car is extremely low to the ground and a challenge to get in/out of. (Took it to run an errand the other day and some 14 year old kid chased me down as he had never seen a Ferrari before. I let him sit in it so his brother could take some photos. He got out and he commented how low it was).

    Welcome!

I was a Ferrari fan from childhood as well.

I bought my first Ferrari, a 296GTB a few weeks ago. You have great taste!

Unlike many of the more seasoned owners I do not have a stable of other Ferraris to compare my 296 to. I will say the handling is like nothing I have ever experienced. The 296 is so precise! The power is breathtaking. The design is special as you mentioned.

You just might get a non-curmudgeonly F-chatter offer to take you for a ride so you can experience first hand...

PS - Welcome aboard young man. I spent decades spending BIG MONEY on women and alcohol - perhaps you'll wise up faster than I did and put yours into something with resale value? :D

Welcome! I also joined these forums when I was 16 back in 2004. I dreamt about owning one daily, and spent everyday of the 16 years in between joining and buying one studying and working my ass off so I might be so lucky to have one myself.

I bought my first Ferrari, an F12, at 32 and my F8 2 months ago. I don’t have experience with a 296 yet but what I can tell you is that any Ferrari is awesome. Take your wildest imagination and multiply by 2. The stats tell one story: it’s fast as hell and feels amazing under you, but many cars have similar stats. What is even more amazing are the subjective things - the way it feels to sit behind that yellow badge, the smell of the leather, the nostalgia for the history.

It’s worth all of the hard work and sacrifice and dreaming that it takes to own one of these things, trust me. I hope one day you can also buy one!

    Welcome.

Like @haithman, I spent (and continue to spend I suppose) many years since I was a child thinking about owning a Ferrari. Unlike Haitman, and more like my friend @kestrou I spent a lot of the time when I was not day dreaming about cars on alcohol, to the point I actually became an alcoholic. I never said that on this site before. That was before I joined, and before my kids were born. One day I put the drink down and have not picked it up since. I've started my own family and business since then and now am in a position to buy a Ferrari/McLaren/Lamborghini whenever I see fit. I will do so this Spring.

The point I am making is that there are a lot of enthusiasts here. Most are owners, but not everyone is. It is a welcoming place, with a lot to learn. You can learn about cars and you can even learn about life. As Arnold said, its good to enjoy yourself and go out with friends every once in a while, but while you are out partying, someone else is getting better and improving at the same time. Keep that in mind during school and you may be quicker to a 296 than you think.

This thread has gotten positive and nostalgic. He’s my Ferrari story. I was 7. It was 1995. I saw a picture of a Ferrari F50 in a magazine. I was blown away. I took it over to my dad and said what’s that?! He said son, that’s a Ferrari, that’s a cool car! First car I fell in love with. I was hooked. Never shook it off. Still hooked.

Kris, welcome to the forum. In a few weeks it’s going to be a year since I got my 296 GTB; my first Ferrari. I used to own a 911 Carrera S (991.2 generation). Compared to all the other cars I’ve owned and driven, including the 911, driving a Ferrari feels like a grand event every time. The intoxicating engine roar, the modem fighter jet like digital cockpit, insane acceleration, go-kart like steering and looks that demand attention from every single human being I pass by (at least I feel that way :)). I encourage you to learn in a car with manual transmission. Manual driving will teach you torque control, and proper gear shifting. While you’ll probably never drive a manual in your life, it’ll help you appreciate truly amazing cars like the 296 GTB on how they deliver 819hp from three different sources (ICE, Turbos, Batteries) seamlessly. My GTB is Rossa Corsa car with black Special seats with red leather accents and red seatbelts. I wish you all success in life and may your wildest dreams come true.
