I used to keep track of each race and make notes about what was going on. The last time I did that was 2014 and I haven't seen a full race since. I subbed to F1tv this year and cancelled it as soon as I saw that Red Bull driving past all the other cars like they were parked. The subscription lasted 15 minutes before I trashed it.
F1 2024: Five reasons to be extremely excited for the new F1 season https://www.planetf1.com/features/f1-2024-season-reasons-excitement We are getting close and testing is hard to lie and cover flaws now!
What...3 days...maybe 4? That's not testing. This is just warming the engine oil and making sure the tires are balanced. These cars should have been on a track three months ago.
I think 2- 5 day tests should be the minimum 2 weeks apart so adjustment and work can be completed. The testing regime is now the first 3 races lol
The only thing that represents a real sport is unlimited open testing. Anything less is just spec racing rules.
Agreed the sprint races are stupid. They should kill them, unless they want to reverse the order so the fastest cars start last.
Agreed. They need to bring back testing. Yes it favors the more well capitalized teams but who cares.
That would soon introduce another strategy, with some team writting off the sprint result to get a better grid position for the race that gives more points !
True and LOL. Imagine it: Everybody going slower than the next car. Please sir, after you. Nono, go ahead please. Oh no, please pass me.
That reminds me of strange competition, a hillclimb they used to hold in Paris, rewarding the ... slowest car. "La Course de Cote de la Rue Lepic", near Montmartre, was run uphill over 660 meters only, which had to be covered in making constant progression, and without any stop. It attracted huge crowds watching from both sides of the road and cheering the drivers as they laboured their way up. As in any time trial, the cars were released one by one, and the winner was the driver who took the longest to cover the distance . Only in France ...
The F1 2024 season is officially up and running after Sauber conducted a filming day at Barcelona on Saturday. F1 is currently halfway through car launch season with five of the year’s 10 cars – Haas, Williams, Sauber, Alpine and the Red Bull junior team – revealed over the last eight days. The remaining five – Aston Martin, Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren and Red Bull Racing – will be launched over the course of the coming week ahead of the start of pre-season testing in Bahrain on February 21.
When is F1’s 2024 pre-season testing? Bahrain F1 pre-season test: 21-23 February 2024 Day Start time Finish time Wednesday 21 February 2am ET (10am local time) 11am ET (7pm local time) Thursday 22 February 2am ET (10am local time) 11am ET (7pm local time) Friday 23 February 2am ET (10am local time) 11am ET (7pm local time)
Amazing. Three whole days to test months of computer modeling, wind tunnel experiements, dyno testing, simulator driving, designer and engineer and driver discussions? I'll bet the drivers had more time having their seats fitted. This is not only a recipe for disaster, it is a pure fraud on the ticket buyers. We are not going to see a race in Bahrain, we are going to see the red carpet walk for the Grammies...but on four wheels.
Less than a month to go now, before the start of the hostilities. I don't think I can spare 24 weekends to follow F1 though.
Oh no he is unhappy. LH got all the press and a genuine top team and now he's whining about the utter obvious lol. Alonso: Three days of single-car testing "unfair" on F1 drivers Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso says it is "unfair" for Formula 1 drivers to only get one and a half day of winter testing in Bahrain.
I think he's correct. The stupid thing happened in F1 is the banning of in season testing and extreme limitation of testing.
Yes true but its been going on for years with no hint the teams or management at F1 are going to change it. Its something that is in the press every year just before testing. Would like to see more of course but there is no hint of change yet.
