Hello all. After going through the agony and tedium of removing the original oil pressure sender, and replacing it with a brand new one, I noticed the nut was loose on the little terminal post. I went to tighten it but was horrified to discover that it wasn't loose, it was actually broken.

You can see in the photograph, the post is sheared off and there is what appears to be a wire holding it together.

My first question for the experts is:
Am I royally screwed here? I'm assuming yes.

My plan of action is to get my money back and shop elsewhere.
    My second question is:
Can someone recommend where to get a good (and correct) sender?

This defective part I got from a well known Ferrari parts seller in the UK that I had previously bought a sender from for my 308 years ago, and it worked great and was a good price.
    Any help much appreciated.

Thanks for your reply, I did check but the part is 'unavailable' on their website. I'll try giving them a call.

Why not ask the original supplier to simply replace the defective part?

Because it may be a very low quality version of the part. They sell them at a considerably lower price than what I see listed on some of the more trusted sites often mentioned here.

Having said that though, after some research (googling), it would appear that many/all the senders are made by a company in India called 'Veethree'. So I wonder if the unit sold by 'all ferrari parts' for $823.00 is actually the same one I bought for less than $200 from the place in the UK. Does anyone here know? Are any of the Veglia senders still available?

When I got my major service done a few months ago, I was advised by more than one expert not to use some new supplied parts, even the ones from Ferrari and to see if I could source some older ones because they are better quality, this may not be true of every part, and I'm sure it's not, but outsourcing production of parts to manufacturers who may or may not have the capability to do good quality control seems to be a problem.

I too got one from Ricambi and found that it was wired wrong internally. The connectors were reversed and when we turned the key on,the pressure gage was pegged and the warning light was barely glowing.

@John Hasty The oil pressure sender being discussed in this thread is for a 308.

The sensor you purchased (in early 2021) was for your Mondial t (135940). I don't question that you could have experienced a problem -- but the issue being discussed here is a physical failure a threaded section.

Okay, so I'm doing Alden's suggestion of getting a replacement sender from the supplier that sold me the defective part, as it looks like if I were to by the part elsewhere, I'd just be getting the exact same part, but just more expensive. Please someone correct me if I am wrong here.
They're sending me a replacement without asking for the old one back, which is pretty great of them.
Info gleaned which I couldn't find before doing this job:
For a 1988 3.2 engine, the part of the original (Veglia) sender you can get a wrench on is 22mm. The new one (Veerthree) is 24mm. I could only gain access with a very thin wrench which I had to bend and modify with a Dremel.
