It may be some kind of CANBus resistor. The only way you'd know is by backprobing the plug and getting a resistance reading

    Hey everyone,

I’m reaching out for some advice on diagnosing my 550 Maranello. I’ve got myself a Foxwell NT530 with the Ferrari program and a 3Pin Fiat adapter (since my European 550 doesn’t have an OBD2 port).

In the passenger footwell, I found three 3Pin sockets: Diag, Engine, and Immobilizer. I’ve been trying to connect via the Diagnostic port, but no luck getting the Foxwell NT530 to communicate, either in standard OBD mode or Ferrari mode.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far, but I’m really looking for your input. Has anyone with a 550 sans OBD managed to connect to an OBD reader or any other diagnostic tool/computer? I’m almost at my wit’s end!

    • Checked the Fiat adapter and the connections seem right (K Line to 7, L to 15, etc.).
    • The 12-volt cable is powered by an external battery, but I can’t see that being the issue.
    • 550 ignition is on, but haven’t started the engine, of course.

Appreciate any advice or shared experiences you’ve got. Thanks a bunch!

I'm not sure if it makes a difference. I have my fiat adaptor plugged into the cigarette lighter on my F355 (which has a chassis earth/masse)

The system uses an old fashioned serial port, so everything has to be plugged in before applying power.

Absolutely, the immobilizer is off. You’ve raised a good point about grounding. I’ll try connecting directly to the car’s Earth/Ground and the battery’s positive terminal to see if that changes anything. I’m also considering testing with a basic Bluetooth OBD Adapter as an alternative approach. I’ll keep you updated on the results. Thanks for the suggestion!
