The owner and I brought this 0969GT to 2015 Ferrari Reunion.
A weeks effort became 3 days with no sleep and 22 hours from his home
to Laguna. Peter Singhof has the best photos on Barchetta.
Many in attendance in Bay 1 (Admiral Philips/500 Mondial) assisted myself and my crew to
get 0969GT road ready.. I asked a lot of questions! I have never
experience such camaraderie. Blessings to All.
We covered the owner's Bucket list in spades and in full!
47 years setting in his garage with only two local drives. I saw it both times.
I wondered who owned it at the time.
Met the owner at a Boy Scout outing, with 5000 in attendance.
I was to take this to paddock in 2017, but health problems ko'd that effort.

The car remains in hiding after a Colorado Grande outing.
A shame it is a ghost car again.
No effort has since been made to restore it to it's grand old position.
A full race car. I did get to put a lap and a half on it at Laguna.
The tires are Michelin covers of the original Spanish moccasins.
Not a squeal out of them at 130 mph.
My wife and Logistics manager(something I would normally perform myself)
crafted a very nice spiral bound book of the trip.
5 were made and distributed with the attending history of this car.
I remember Tom Shaughnessy making a bid to purchase this car.

A couple of Austrian Gentlemen made a very generous bid for this
historical vehicle, which was turned down by the owner in 2015.

Just as in the Lord Of The Rings Saga,
    A pearl of Great Price.
Willy Marrise and his co driver did their best for a second place
    finish in 1958.
It always amazes me about the historical power of gold
that these amazing machines have over men.

    Roll on!
    Best Regards,
    0969GT

A “generous bid” in 2015 is probably twice the current value. It continues to be disappointing that the old greats seem to be falling out of favour.

It was great to see three Tdfs at Cavallino. Does anyone know if 1143gt left the factory as an open or closed headlight car? Barchetta has it as an open headlight car which would be consistent with my understanding that the 1959 cars were open, but there seem to be period pics of it both closed and open.

1143 GT was born with closed/covered headlights and is in the same configuration today.
Superbly restored by Paul Russell and Company of Essex, MA/USA.
In the early days it had been customised a bit.

    No, you are not.
They held MM's several years after (the fatal crash 1957) but it had totally different rules and was more of a regularity race.

I was 10 years old when the last MM was raced but I found nothing on this subject in the last years; may you (the Master I think) tell us something about those years? Thanks and all the best, sincerely, Alessandro
