Try electronics on, but not engine. Thinking it through, I press it after I turn the key back to engine off, but before I remove it and the dash turns off.

 

It's okay, the fuel flap motor replacement is only $9000 at a dealer

 

Aha - I assumed it would be more likely to open with the ignition on and engine off. Sure enough, it opens when I remove the key! So very Italian.

Sometimes the fuel door button works on the 355, sometimes it doesn't. Likely the F12 also has a pull release somewhere for those moments.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Enjoy finding all the quirks of your new ride, BTW she looks great

 

Very well done! But know that it is addictive. I've had my first for a year-ish, and I'm already looking for my second.

Fantastic car. Loved that color same as mine, not the typical racing red.

 

Lovely spec. Yellow on darker shades of gray looks damn good on just about any car.

 

Marrying a model is fine and all but a Ferrari will still look hot! in 30 years

 

Here's a tip. If you ever have a switch that doesn't function, e.g. the fuel filler door or the trunk release, slowly lock and unlock the doors 3 times with the remote.

 

haven't been around here for much time and not an owner but the length you guys go to find weird workarounds in order deal with the questionable flaws of these cars amazes me every time I visit. Why and how is that even productive? If Ferrari themselves knew they probably would've recalled their 300K$ cars but here we are I guess.

 

The lock/unlock is their general electronic reset pattern. So many errors are sensors or actually false reads that doing that clears. Ferraris (and from I've read, McLarens) are extremely sensitive to battery drain and there are many well-documented warnings/error messages [brake system, traction control or throttle] that are actually caused by weak batteries and not actual brake system failures.

 

I wouldn't call it a flaw, it's more like an eccentricity.

 

Fair enough, my model F12 has horrible alignment but I still love it nonetheless. It's not life threatening since it can't be driven but it is there I guess.

 

last time my fuel door malfunctioned, it was the battery that was bad. I don't need to have my key inserted to open the fuel door. I would think that it shouldn't open when the car is running.
If you experience other strange malfunctions I would have the dealer replace the battery. The F12's are really harsh on batteries.
