Hello. I currently have a 2019 488GTB which I love but the warranty is coming to an end and I don’t want a Ferrari without warranty as I have already had many problems with my 488 (luckily all were covered by warranty).

I am looking at selling my 488 and getting the new 296 GTB. What are everyone’s thoughts? Is it worth the extra money to upgrade to the 296 right now?

    Thanks!

Its all relative, but the F8 is a nice upgrade to the 488. 296 is smaller and if you want the latest and greatest than get that, but if you haven't, test drive a f8 as well...Personally I liked the F8 a lot.

Have you considered extending your 488’s warranty? That’s what I’ve done with mine. I like the F8 and would take it over a 296. Good luck in whatever you decide. :)

Honestly: test drive the 296 and you'll know in 10 minutes what you want. You might feel that it's not for you. I suspect that you will love it.

It might be fashion around here to hate on the 296, but I am waiting on 296s after spending seat time in both 488 and F8. I've detailed it elsewhere here, but after about 1.5 hours of wringing out an F8 and driving pretty much all of my regular routes in the demo, I couldn't bring myself to buy it. I tried the 488 a few times when I had a 458 and did not find it more enjoyable to be worth another $100k (or even $65k at the time) more.

"Worth the extra money" depends on how sensitive you are to the ~$100-125k price difference over an F8, but there's no arguing that dynamically the 296 is superior. Most of the car reviews put it up with the 765LT and GT3RS as far as being the most engaging 'driver's car.' As compared to the 488/F8, it feels tighter, more nimble, better sounding and faster out of turns.

in the UK a low mileage f8 is slightly more expensive than a low mileage 296, I think the question really comes down to whether you need the extra speed/performance

Agree with this. After having both, I can say I enjoy my 296 much more than the F8. I would venture a guess that most people that hate on the 296 have probably never driven one. Took my about 5 minutes behind the wheel to be impressed.

The F8 looks great but is too quiet. The 296 sounds the business and is much faster than all the 4X8. variants. If you like the look of the car and don’t mind spending the xtra dough go for the 296. It will also probably have more staying power before you get the itch to upgrade again

I love the F8. Im saddened that you have had so many problems with yours. It certainly is a shame that you have to buy a new Ferrari because your F8 is no longer going to be under warranty. This is a sad and pathetic day for Ferrari. What pieces of **** they have become.

Whatever you end up buying, I hope you have a better experience, but after reading this post, and you possibly buying a hybrid Ferrari, maybe you should buy a Porsche instead.

    Best wishes.
