Agreed with everything you said except that you said "Lots of people would never buy a car with black seats. So your resale value could tank by tens of thousands." Yes this is a generalization. But anyway, let's go back to op
Man, @Korntera, this situation stinks, I'm sorry. Black seats are fine (I'm not sure where @dera is coming from), but you should 100% get what you want. And I love the way you spec'ed it. Going to look mega. Glad to hear your sales rep isn't being defensive, I hope they find a way to make it right for you.
Yes. I ordered a 458 spider with a 2 tone dash (lower in tan, upper in black) as a special order and a GPS. The car came with neither. I was ahead of my time as the two tone dash became a regular option and not "special order" a year or 2 later. I had seen a few photos of 458 coupes that had this so I knew it was possible. But it was not a regular option at the time. The salesman who filed the order was fired a few months earlier and the dealer just blew it off even though I had all sorts of documentation proving what I ordered. I asked about the GPS and they said it could not be retrofitted. The two tone dash they just sad would take to long. I didn't pay for either but it left a sour taste in my mouth on the car. Every time I looked at the dash or wanted to use the GPS I was reminded it didn't come the way I wanted. It seemed to me the in way they handed it that this wasn't a unique experience. They had their story down pretty pat.
Might be the majority on sale because the original owner didn’t like them, who knows….using cars on market to prove this point is not particularly relevant. To the OP, there have been orders coming in wrong before (piece of CF missing) but not something major like this. Seat color sets the tone for the whole interior, where you spend 100% of your time. I’ll never be able to afford a new Ferrari, but I would be livid and would refuse the car and reorder.
A friend had his first new Ferrari turn up with wrong style of seats (not color) and was allowed to drive whilst the correct spec car was rushed thro - this was not in the US & maybe 20 years ago so who knows what they'll do now
At least these are the correct seats so the name plate should all be correct, they are just black alcantara instead of the cream color we selected. It appears the sales person put the wrong color in the order system as one document shows nera(which using a translator means black in italian) yet all my documents show the color in the picture.
I don’t get it and not sure if you were just being sarcastic or funny? Why shouldn’t he get in trouble? What do you think the appropriate response would be? OP is with a car that he spent money on and it’s not correct. Dealership will now have to spend money out of their pocket to fix the mistake. Mistakes happen but there should be consequences for that.
Agree there should be consequences. Being punished for an honest error may or may not be one of them. I wasn't being funny or sarcastic, but I did start meditating recently
I agree, he is a friend and has sold a lot of cars for me on consignment and i have bought numerous cars from him and we knew each other before he started at Ferrari so i want to tread lightly for his sake, but my email clearly states these are pictures of your car and the car that showed up is different and as i found out, the order system says Nera and not whatever they call the cream interior.
I'm certain you will get satisfaction and this will be resolved. Sometimes friendship is worth more than money
Talked to sales guy today, he offered a few options and one was getting the right seats in, so they are calling Ferrari today to order the correct seats and I will take official delivery once the paint correction and clear bra are done. It wasn't worth the discount to have my first ever half million dollar new Ferrari not exactly how i wanted. I would rather wait for it to be my perfect spec as this was my present to myself after selling my business of 24 years.
Yes sometimes, and only sometimes. This is a good test on how he will treat the op on this so called friendship
In most cases, the seat color also dictates other parts of the interior, usually like carpet, door panels, or lower dash…..is that the case here?
Honest mistakes happen all the time. I'm glad they gave you the option of the discount or the correct seats. I would ask if they can print you a corrected window sticker as well.
Ferrari does this often. I once ordered a heavy contrast red stitching against a Nero ( yes Nero!) alcantara for the entire interior and they did the seats and half of the dash with red and the rest with cream color stitching. It looked weird but there was no easy fix other than wait months or more for another car. At least your seats are easily swapped out. It’s unclear if the issue is the dealer or the factory but considering the absurd price of the car and even more absurd price of the options it should be perfect and you should accept no less. Well, guess everyone was correct. They cannot order the seats and must order a new car. Which means drive this car for a few months while we wait for the order OK from the new car and then once its done being built, put this car up for consignment and then buy the new car. Which im worried if these values drop they said they would reduce their consignment fee so i am no money out of pocket, but I could be without a 296 for 3-4 months depending on when we put it for sale and when it shows up etc. And on top of that during the viewing of the car after PDI the carbon seats have a massive gash in them anyway! They said this is the first ever damaged seat but WTF. Why are there so many issues on this car. Im wondering if maybe i just ask for a discount and keep it to avoid the hassle. All this for Sabbia alcantara seats. This may be my last Ferrari, time for another brand after this BS. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The carbon seat can rub on the bulkhead wall. I've seen it on another GTS. Both the seat and wall panel were CF and it was like that where it rubbed on both pieces.
Interesting that theres two issues with the seats. Wrong color and a gash. This would imply to me something happened at the factory in regards to these seats and it wasnt just an 'oops got the color wrong' event.
Hi Kontera, not acceptable. One thing that's good is seats are one of the most easiest things to replace. Your dealer should order your spec and swap it out! Let us know how it goes.
My 2022 812GTS arrived with NO SHIELDS and wrong wheels. I picked up on it in production pictures. In the end they no charged me for the wheels and I lived with the Invisible Shields. FYI no one ever mentioned the shields in the couple of years I had the car. Without knowing I think the missing shields and Grigio Ingrid paintg might have devalued the car by $25-$30K. It did however sell for premium over MSRP, so in the end I was a happy Camper.
Looks to me like Ferrari needs to replace that damaged seat anyway, so why not just replace both with the correct color? They can send Ferrari the old seats back when the new ones come in. It's not like Ferrari can't make another seat, I'm sure they can be ordered through the parts department if the car is in an accident. etc. Or, have the original seats re-covered in what you wanted, assuming the carbon fiber can be made to look perfect again.
