    Not what I said, but:

Do you always find that it was off? That the last guy screwed up? I understand your point that as a professional you want to check it because you have a responsibility to your customer. That's a different issue.

These days, in most cases. Even as new cars factory was not particularly careful. The cars are old enough most have passed through hands several times doing sloppy work, people choosing low bidders or poor quality shops.

And yes, that was your message.

How about an SD1 or SD2 ? So all the parameters can be read, tested and adjusted? Again,if we are just accepting its all correct why bother with service?

Then I guess anyone who does a DIY belt change without an SDx or equivalent is out to lunch.

Oh please. Dont be such an ass. I used examples. It is not an all inclusive list and you know that very well. And I have never once stated all do it yourselfers are incapable. Quite the contrary and you know that too. You go out of your way to be an ass.

I stopped by Jim's shop on Saturday to check on my Challenge car as he preps it for Daytona. I showed him this thread and he smiled as he reminisced about his training at FNA and how much he learned from Ken McKay and you.

It looks like I'm the only one of his clients going to Daytona next month. That's happened before. I'm happy to assist him...

As you can see I stated time -and- tools. But yeah, a couple of dial indicators, bases, extensions, degree wheel, degree wheel to crank adapter and the time/inclination to set it up and do it correctly.

I would rather pay someone that already has the tools and experience than have someone working against the clock trying to learn it.
