Hello I have a question and I would very much appreciate it if someone could inform me. Do gas struts automatically lift the boot lid? In my car I press the release button but I have to lift the boot lid by hand. Is this normal or is it because my gas struts are finished and needs to change? bery grateful. and this is my car. 50000 kms and by the moment a stranger for me. I have a 599 but no, it doesn't automatically lift the lid. The struts get weak over time and they fail to keep the lid up, that is a common issue but easy to fix.
I replaced mine some time ago. It was not staying up, that was the problem (pun intended), and would want to close on me as I put things in the boot. So no it doesn't lift open if that's what you mean, They just keep it open.
As others have said, the struts only hold the boot lid fully open and to keep it from falling closed on the operator. The operator must lift the boot lid into the open position after pressing the release button. Beautiful 612!
Thank you very much for your answers. You have already clarified my question and I thank you very much for that
