Apple CarPlay on centre screen

One thing I’ve noticed is that the car no longer automatically locks when you walk away from it carrying the key fob. Now the fob lock button must be pressed to lock and alarm the car. Wondering if you’re having the same experience. A minor inconvenience compared to the huge improvement by having CarPlay functionality on the center screen.

 

To my wife and kid, that would be a major improvement! I have had several occasions where I step out of the car, close my door, and on my way to the passenger side to open the door, the car locks and then the alarm goes off.

 

It hasn’t happened with me and still locks the car when walking away from it. I believe it may be in the vehicle settings.

That’s happened to me a few times under different scenarios. It sometimes gets into a weird state where the alarm is armed which then goes off when I reenter the car or access the boot!

After new update, mine doesn't lock anymore when walking away too. Tried playing with settings but couldn't get it to work. Anyone have it working with newest update?

 

Mine is still working after the latest update.

 

I am not having much luck getting our local dealer in UK to move forward on this, can you tell me which UK Ferrari Dealer did the update for you, I really want to get mine done so as not to take up real estate on the main instrument display. If I have to travel to another dealer - then so be it!

 

A couple days ago I got my 2021 Roma 3 year service and got the new software update.

Apple CarPlay now works on center console wired in. Haven’t tried wireless yet.

Seems to work well save a couple of initial bugs.

1. Pinch to zoom doesn’t seem to work. Haven’t had a chance to work out a workaround.
2. When stopped, neither the built in Nav nor CarPlay can be used as the car reports the navs are “disabled during parking maneuver “. Clearly a bug!

But center console is where CarPlay should have been from the get go!

I’ve found that sometimes if you push the button to disable the parking sensor when the center screen reads “disabled during parking maneuver”, the message will disappear and the screen will then function. Also, referring back to one of my previous posts, the dealership was able to restore the auto lock functionality. Apple CarPlay is also working perfectly with an iPhone 15 with the latest IOS software, in case anyone was wondering. Your connection should work fine with just using Bluetooth, no wire required.

 

Will give it a shot! Tho I have to turn off the parking sensors because they beeping when it starts up!

It also can happen when the cameras activate in the main dashboard. The software thinks you’re trying to park. If that happens try pressing the camera button to turn them off.

 

Didn’t work last nite. Parking camera has no effect. Center console remains inaccessible to Nav and CarPlay when stopped.

Will do a check of settings before taking it in.

Think I hit the sensor button not the camera button. Camera works as you said so it is a workaround. Will try one more thing this weekend to see if I can make a bit better.

Still has a bug at shutdown that in-syncs displays but it is a cosmetic bug (mostly).

Update.

Sure enough, as I suspected, the automatic engagement of parking sensors needs to be off (a setting in ADAS). Once that is off then CarPlay works as expected. So does the regular nav.

Even better, CarPlay works wirelessly too! This is on an early 2021 model!

On my 21 Roma I have wired Apple Car play but own a Samsung fold phone. An earlier post mentioned a product called Ottobox to interconnect. I bought one and it hooked up perfectly, I now have Android Auto in place of car Play on the dash screen using my Samsung Android. Works well. For you guys that had the center screen activated with a software update what did you do , just call the dealer and ask for it? Did they charge performing that upgrade? Photos attached show what the new screen looks like.

Just got the software update at the ferrari wash dealer and now I have wireless CarPlay + CarPlay in the center screen! Yay! Some other things look a little different but haven’t explored them yet. Will keep everybody posted.

My '21 just got back from dealership will "all software updates" and no center screen?

 

take a look at the software versions in your car. You can access them from the center screen from Settings. If they are the same as above then there is likely a diff in hardware between 2021 and 2022. My production date is March 2022.

 

I read through this thread but I’m not totally understanding the situation. Are older models (21/22) that did not elect to buy the CarPlay option receiving it now for free?

 

Doubt it.

On my 21 I bought CarPlay but it was wired only and worked only on the driver’s display. With the new software it moved to being wireless only and located only on the center console display.

If you’ve never bought CarPlay then i doubt they are giving it away for free. Tho it is now included in the Roma base price (and the base price bumped up). But check with your dealer to be sure.

Did you have to change any settings to get the wireless and on center console? I specifically bought my '21 for CarPlay but only shows on drivers screen after all software updates applied?

 

Make sure your Bluetooth connect is active to your phone. That is all that is required AFAIK.

First time I got in the car at the dealer after service, it came right up wireless and on the center console!

Make sure you have the latest software shown above.
