Planning a super trip to Montreal this July. Wonder what the hotel of choice in Vieux-Montreal is? No kids this trip-
    Thanks.

I've always enjoyed my time at the Intercontinental, the absinthe bar is great.

TBH I wouldn't say there's much of a distinction between old and newer anymore. Everything is walkable around there anyway.

Hôtel Le St-Sulpice is very nice. Centrally located in old Montreal.

I'm local and always put clients there.

    Unfortunately Hotel St-James closed down.

Thank you for that. As a local, please give us your expertise if old montreal is a better experience than the hotels downtown. We arent bringing kids and mostly like walking for pastries and coffee during the day. So we thought old montreal wins out? We looked at St Sulpice, Nelligan, and Hotel Gault. Wonder if Gault is a little too far off beaten path but it looks nice and is a top choice for now. How is Humaniti ?

Personally, I would way prefer staying in old Montreal. In any case downtown is a short distance. I don't know Humaniti, except by name. Nelligan and Gault are also good choices.
Hope you have a good time
