......and utterly meaningless until the factory debits the dealership's bank account. That is the only deposit that is real.

Yeah but they’ve been straight with me so far what they’re being told the criteria will be. Like FNA did with the Purosangue they’re trying to lather up interest by saying current V12 owners will get the first allocations offered.

But I’m sure it will open up more broadly by the end. Remember with the 812GTS they closed the book (late 2020 iirc) and then reopened it in 2021 for another 6 months or so. My memory was that they closed the GTS and F8 order books around the beginning of October 2021.

Yes, although these are not "full deposits" just expression of interest deposits at this stage with no guarantee of an allocation.

Ever notice that everyone fights to get in front of the line for a new one then recommends not getting a first year car because it might have issues?

I have an important question about Andrea Militello (Head of GT Cars Exterior Design at Ferrari). It has been claimed in this thread that he worked for pininfarina. This was absolutely new to me, as I had previously other search results (not for Carlo Palazzani and Matteo De Petris, these two men worked for Pininfarina/Source: Linkedin).

The following was listed in 2022 about A. Militellos career on Linkedin:
    - Lead Exterior Designer Ferrari (lug 2010 - Presente 12 anni)
    - Senior Designer at Ferrari Design center (feb 2010 - Presente 12 anni 5 mesi)
    - Senior Designer Fiat Auto/FCA/centro stile fiat (mag 2008 - gen 2011 2 anni 9 mesi)
    - project leader IED Automotive (mag 2005 - mag 2008 3 anni 1 mese)
    - designer IDEA Institute (gen 2004 - mag 2005 1 anno 5 mesi)

He worked with (Paolo) Pininfarina, but only in a design contest jury:
    https://autodesignmagazine.com/en/2016/01/top-design-school-challenge-si-chiama-manifesto-la-ferrari-del-futuro/
    That is my current information.

@day355: What did you mean with #6970 “I'll try to be precise, Militello started the F 12 under Pininfarina...“ and with #6988 “Militello made the car from A to Y starting at Pininfarina...“
Do you mean that Pininfarina has the leadership of the design over the F12 Berlinetta (although A. Militello worked for FCA/Ferrari at this time?)
If you have other/better sources or if i made a mistake: please enlighten me!

In the context of the topic raised here, this is not entirely unimportant, as some here in the thread attribute the majority of the design of the F12 Berlinetta to Pininfarina.
Regardless, I consider Andrea Militello to be one of the most important Ferrari designers of the recent years and he had heavily influence in the design of the F12 Berlinetta! And he could most likely also oversaw the design of the new F167.

I'm simply fighting to get into the line! I'm completely accepting of probably getting a later car, my order form with the expression of interest deposit specifically said allocation not guaranteed and delivery expected 2027!

My dealer confirmed I have a choice of going for the coupe and/or spider. Both is an option since I have 812sf + GTS + comp.
With this generation it was initially sold that to get an GTS allocation one needed to have a aregular 812Sf, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the new car.

Dealer also confirmed that with the showing the new car the vast majority of dealers were very impressed which was a big difference in the presentation of the original 812Sf whcih was pretty mild received behind closed doors. All styling cues were confirmed. Nose that resembled the Daytona and overall much more 'classic' looks.

I never saw his picture before but I now know I met him! I had a 5 minute conversation with him at the 812 customer reveal in Maranello. He talked about the Daytona and its influence over his thinking and we talked about some elements of the 812 that were from the Daytona. He was keen to get feedback on the design from the people Ferrari hoped would buy the car. He was a very nice guy. I simply knew he was from the design team but had no idea of his name.

Another small F167 sketch series specifically for the central nozzle in the diffuser: i prefer the bottom drawing (after looking at the camouflaged prototype again. Maybe i'm wrong, but who cares...?:D
Who doesn't feel a little reminiscent of a jet fighter (and Lamborghini) when looking at this?

The story of the F 12 is as follows: the designer who worked on the car is called " Werner GRUBER "for the profile and "CALONACI " for the rear. The research sketches posted are those of MILITELLO while the car was being drawn, probably during the process on the Ferrari side.

On its November 2012 the french magazine Automobiles classiques has a 10 pages article dedicated to the F12 B. The last two pages, below, are about the design. The following passage might interest you because it mentions Andrea Millitelo and below is the translation:

"The first sketches were made at Pininfarina during the last weeks of 2009. But very quickly, Flavio Manzoni got his designers to work on alternatives for the exterior and interior. Very quickly a theme developed by Andrea Millitelo and his team - which included Wener Gruber and Alberto Agnari - gave the general direction of the study. Responsible for the design of the exterior in Maranello, under the authority of Flavio Manzoni, Andrea Militello has a degree from the European Design Institute (IED) in Turin. He worked for FIAT, with the title of "senior designer". In this context he was project director for the "Eye" program developed by Tesla in 2010 for IED students…………………………….
Believing what Franco Cimatti, responsible for studies and concepts (at Ferrari), said, it was Pininfarina that introduced the "Aero Bridge" system………."

I prefer the bottom drawing too. This could well be the reinvention of the F12 Kamm tail :)

For all you 812 haters, I think it’s beautiful. You must think Halle Berry and Margot Robbie are ugly too.

Hahaha, I’m with you on the 812! However, beauty is subjective so I guess the 812 is not everyone’s “Margot” or “Halle” ‍♂️

And it is important to repetitively use a super creative deriding descriptor to describe those ladies. Must be super creative and repetitive in order for full impact to be made! ;)

I know a good body shop that might be able to work out the fold in that door! :)

The 812 is exactly what you would expect Manzoni would do to the PF F12. I feel it shows a lack of talent all around. That is, of course, in comparison to the F12B not the rest of the car world which it certainly is well above. We are all just having fun here.

By the way, what is that rectangle thing on the front splitter?

i do think the GTS is prettier than the SF and that color combo is very handsome. and you didn't black out the rims so the car looks very well balanced!

I disagree having had both- the SF is well proportioned (the dents in the side doors excluded) whereas the GTS has the ungainly look of the 2 pontoons sitting on the trunk which make the rear look ill proportioned from off angle viewpoints. Its unfortunate Ferrari took the lazy way out using the 4 series spider retractable hardtop which looks great on the rear mid car but not on this front engine otherwise almost masterpiece. I realize Ferrari is a small company looking to use hardware they already had on the shelf but for what they charge for the car they could have done a much more seamless job with a retractable soft or hardtop.
I just hope with the F167 they design it with a spider in mind from the beginning and come up with another innovative retractable top( heck I’ll even take a targa if it saves weight and complexity and make the spider look as good as the coupe)
