    I think that I mentioned this before. The belly turret of the B-17 did not retract. There was no reason to because there was ample room between the belly and the ground. Only the B-24 had a retractable belly turret because there was only about 30 inches or less between the belly and the ground on a B-24.

    bob, you are correct. i always thought it retracted like the 24 did. not sure why i thought that.
