Was a beautiful day for driving last week, went to put the top down on the 360 and it failed "midstream", leaked fluid and will no longer go up or down. Saw the service manual, only had instructions to put it back up, I just want it down so I can drive it! Have you manually put the top down on your 360? If yes, could you plz offer assistance? I've got it down approx 75% into the well but it will go no further. TIA

PS. Misspelled "Convertible" dont know how to edit title

Can you attach a photo of where it is now? That would really help. It is do-able to move it.

Thx for your reply. This is as far "down" as it will go manually, cannot see what it is hitting to prevent it from going lower into the well. Thx

I would try very carefully folding the roof back to the position where it sits on the sides of the frame and the front "half" of the roof is at 90 degrees (vertical) or further. It looks like it did not completely fold and then dumped open when it was retracted. It's not easy to tell but if you carefully "close" it again manually by hand and then "open" it by hand, it should fold up and allow space for the capote to close.

If you have a higher res photo, please attach. It's a little hard to see the detail.

If you're sure the top is all the way down, you can check to see if the micro switch is engaged. That would tell you if the position is right. I have the general area in my red box in the photo. If you have enough fluid in the pump, you can depress this switch manually and it will make the capote close. Be really FREAKING careful on this though since if you have something in the capote's way, it'll hit it.

We've moved the top up and down a couple times and it does not want to do down further. Sorry, that is the only pic I currently have, the car is not here at my home. Thanks

ricky - the top is not down all the way, that is the issue.

Update - I found a "friend of a friend" that is going to help me, he has previously repaired 360/430 tops.

You know what they say - it's not if it will fail, it is when!

Sorry I couldn’t help any. I’ve been where you are and remember how much it sucked/was a complete buzzkill. What I meant with the micro switch comment is you can see by looking at the switch how far away it is from being “complete” since the switch will be pressed when it’s fully closed.

It could be as simple as your elastic bands wearing out. That will cause it to bunch up and lot close all the way.

I challenge you to have more fails than me [emoji6]. 8 cylinders (yes only 7 in the car), both capote brackets, complete top and elastic replacement and a capote repaint.
