The additional 10% on msrp…when you say “factory starts production” do you mean when the dealer says he has an allocation for you?

The dealer should be able to confirm. If they are asking for additional money it is probably because they have your allocation and ready to input everything. I doubt that a Ferrari dealer would try and get 40k more without the allocation ready to go (at least I hope they wouldn’t). It will eventually show up in the Ferrari app so you can see it.

Is this because people are walking on the deposit ? Or just a money grab and collect the interest on the money ? I’ve never had to pony up more money for any of my F cars in the past.

Neither have I or any other car. Maybe it’s a crazy build and the dealer knows they wouldn’t be able to sell it if they get stuck with it?

also the 10k is refundable. The 10+40k isn’t. I am excited though to hopefully get mine this time next year.

I realize the 10k is refundable only to a certain point. Is Ferrari asking for more money being an additional 10 pct because people who only put down the 10k are not taking delivery because of current market conditions?

I've recently seen new cars sitting so yeah I bet they are concerned some may not follow through.

The second deposit is usually when they are just waiting for the allocation call . They know they have allocation they are just waiting for the call to confirm the date.
At least that is what happened with me .

Got it. Thanks. So from now I’m guessing I’ll be waiting for like 12 months before delivery?

The reason I asked is because I’ve never had to pony up more money the than my 10k deposit on any of my new F cars before. Until these past posts I’ve never heard of such a thing.

I have always been asked for 20K deposit for every car I've ordered except the Purosange which asked for an initial 10K after 3-4 months for a total of 30K. I was told that for Purosangue Ferrari wanted serious commitments (whatever that means) so asked for the 10k more.

In any case, I've never been asked for 10% more when production starts based n MSRP.

My dealer initially said $10,000 then $10,000 when the ordered goes hard. They hinted at a lot more when my spec was finalized with Atelier. I’m not sure it’s required to the dollar, but sounded like 10% of purchase price.

A lot of people are cancelling, mostly speculators who thought the covid free car gravy train was going to keep rolling … my guess is some dealers are asking for a higher deposits to test customers’ commitment to their orders.

That’s a good thing for owners. Keep production limited, less cars on secondary. Ferrari doesn’t need to produce a ton of 296s with the Puro gravy train.

Don’t know about cancellations but was at factory on Friday and saw the V6/v8 lines … really ramped up production of 296 and Roma Spyders now which prob won’t help resale but good for those still waiting! ..… and people speccing some wild colours - 296 in MacLaren Papaya Orange… .. but majority unsurprisingly still Rosso… (at least that day)

Thats cool! I wonder what the life cycle of the 296 will be. Isn’t Ferrari producing more models with shorter life cycles over the decade +?

I understood order books for GTB and GTS are closed and the lines seemed to be making largely GTS… so I guess last 296 will be delivered around 2026 or a few into 2027 (6k+ across all variants?)

would make sense to shorten production life cycles if they want to keep growing sales - especially as a publicly listed company… interestingly there is a huge construction site similarin size to the existing factory just in front so massive expansion planned I guess

Same here. Expect for the Puro where I had to give them $30k for the deposit.

this changed with the SP3, SF90XX, and Puro. Not on the more regular models (at least for most buyers).

fun fact, with the deposits on the big dollar stuff….the dealer doesn’t even hold it. Gets remitted to the factory I believe.

That’s what I’ve heard. Dealer doesn’t actually hold the funds once the allocation is set. Hence the bigger problem with refunds from the dealer position.

Is this a relatively "new" thing? I thought the dealers always held the deposits on your behalf?
