True, it's like if someone had switched Vettel's light off during that crash at Hockenheim.
Strange like one incident can be a watershed in their career for some. Vettel never recovered.
I suspect the same happened for Hamilton during the last lap at Abu Dhabi in 2021.
Probably that completely shattered his confidence. I consider he has never been the same since.

I don’t think mentoring is one of Ricki’s strong suits…..

Given that his father owns the team and it's their hobby, I am amazed he is as good as he is. His lap times are competitive in the field.

I would like to see Ricci do well in his home race. That’s all.

Lance has been a racer since he was a kid. However, to achieve his father's dream of bringing the team and challenging for wins, it's extremely wrong for Lance to be there. He's just a waste of seat, IMO.

There's other drivers out there who has much better credentials, better racer than Lance will ever be.

I agree. That is why, they somehow, i don't categorize being in the same boat as the greats. Vettel in particular. I mean, he really had a bright start with the Scuderia, until he started spinning by his own non stop.

I don't know about Hamilton. He's been lucky to have top cars all his career. Now, with midfield cars, he's being shown he's pretty much same level as George.

There are many drivers who have paid for their seats one way or another. Stroll is no worse and probably better than most. Nobody “deserves” a seat in F1 but if the owner wants him in the team…and apparently he does….it’s really nobody’s business but theirs as long as he has the required credentials. We can all have our opinions, but the only ones that matter are the team’s and the sponsors’.

many sponsors have paid for drivers rides.
    Lance’s father is his sponsor.

    I wouldn't call the Mercedes a mid-field car.

I have been saying that for years. The pundits and the armchar critics can say what they want, it's the teams and their sponsors who decide who get the seats.

    Where starts "mid-field " for you ? It's 5th, 6th, or 7th in the ranking for me.
    Mercedes finished 3rd in 2022, and 2nd in 2023.

They are at the moment, behind Ferrari, Redbull.

They are fighting more less with AM and Mclaren on the 'upper midfield' if you like to call it.

The field seems to be divided into 3 parts this season. Two team that will fight for the step 2 and 3 on the podium (Ferrari and RedBull), the teams that will fight for points in position 5 through 10 (McLaren, Mercedes and Aston Martin) and then the rest. The rest will only score a point if one or more cars from those 5 teams do not finish the race. There is quite a gap between the 5 point scoring teams and the rest.

    If only.

Ferrari seem to have a way of falling backwards during a season - or at least not progressing forward as well as others. Let’s hold off on this 3-tier thing for a bit and see how Merc and Mac progress…

'Williams confirms Alex Albon will take over Logan Sargeant's car for the rest of the Australian Grand Prix weekend.'

That is a clear message ...

Marko blasts Tsunoda and Ricciardo as "too slow" in F1 races
Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has blasted RB Formula 1 duo Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo as “too slow” in races, as he laments their lack of points.

Speaking to Sky Germany, Marko said: “There's a lot at stake for [Tsunoda and Ricciardo]. Both might be hoping for a seat at Red Bull, and one should be well ahead of the other.

“So far Ricciardo is a bit behind. But let's put it this way: Tsunoda's qualifying speed is OK. But in the race, both are too slow.”

It’s hard to believe Doc Helmut would wear that message on a mask…or even wear a mask at all.

Catastrophic start of season for Ricciardo, who seems to have lost his mojo.
This is no better than De Vries last year, and we know what happened to him !
At this rate, Liam Lawson will be soon recalled I think.
