The CPO 296 I'm considering has painted shields. I'm new to the F universe so not familiar as to pro's and con's of shields. Any insight into this would be appreciated.

Not sure what you are asking? I’d guess 90% of cars have shields. Very few people go without it. Painted shields are larger and a lot more expensive.

Metal shields are about $1,500 and painted are over $12,000 as an option. Typically desirable. Group here is divided over whether it's a little too big for the fender area, but on a dark car the painted ones look very sharp.

Agree. For 296 maybe a tad too big. For 812, perfect size

The painted shield actually comes in two different sizes but Ferrari controls which version you receive on your car.

Personally, I dig the painted shields! As others have pointed out they are subjective and more expensive.

Anyone have photos of Rosso Ducale interior? It's a new color introduced recently. There's a 296 Canna di Fucile I've been offered with that interior but the dealership hasn't got it in yet from the owner.

No way having black seats vs. cream would lower the value, lol. If you don't like it, ask them to do one of two things
    - put in another order immediately and let them sell the car
    - take the car and put in another order immediately, w/ a gentleman's agreement to trade you out at msrp

No sense in anyone taking a $20-30k bath and letting this get too contentious. Mistakes happen and it's unfortunate, but tbh, both configurations look good imho

Were you not allowed to refuse delivery of the car? No way I would have bought the wrong spec car and with the gash in the carbon. Especially with an agreement to consign later when the correct one came in. I would be afraid of being stuck with the one I didn't want.

If they're putting in an order for a replacement car, perhaps refuse this car and pick something else out in inventory that is less likely to depreciate in the interim? They'll likely be able to call down their list of 296 prospects and sell this once the CF is fixed and you still maintain your relationship. Win-win for everyone?

First Like Woody’s GTS I am sorry this happened to you.

Mistakes happen , no one died.

In the end the best option is the option that works for you. Personally, time has value as does use. Please don’t let a SA mistake sour you on the best car experience on the planet.

    1. Think win win. Ask the dealer what the best resolution from his side is so you understand their perspective.
    2. If you can live with it, think about what adds value to you. A future sale with little or no consignment? An allocation of the 296 VS? What has value to you?
    3. These are cars. Anything can be changed and changed back. Carbon fiber can be repaired. You should see what goes on in the back. An Sp2 came in with an issue. They fixed it. Period. All done. Anything can be fixed if you’re flexible.

That said yes we all live in a world where we get the thing we want as we want because of what we have and what we do. Think long term and win win because life is longer than one car. Extracting maximum value from this one problem leaves the dealer not wanting to deal with you. Finding a solution that works for you and doesn’t hurt them too badly, that’s better.

Some considerations. The driving experience is independent of the color of the seat. Buy it drive it. Your time will be up sooner and less depreciation. Secure sale against a lower consignment and an early allocation of the next car you want. All within their purview and add value to you. Also if you buy and drive the car, they can sell for above MSRP. If you refuse, they cannot sell it on this iteration for more….AND they will have to explain to Ferrari about the problem from their sales guy and their numbers will be lower. That hurts them and their customers because they cannot get more cars.

Good luck. And as the shieldless GTS turned out, I suspect your ultimate experience will be good.

it's all relative. Many people have been called metal for spending millions on cars.

    What ever happened with this?

I'm in the same boat. I went to go inspect my car this morning as it just arrived and the seats were the correct color, but the dash/door inserts were waaaay off. My dealer is currently determining options. One of the options is to potentially just order a new car. It's just frustrating since I waited so long for this damn car and it arrived at port in July and now it'll be another 5 - 6 months (or more) until I get a replacement.

As much as I agree everything said in spirit, I just want to assert that respect and loyalty must go both ways. Today it's the dealer that screwed up, they should be the one to take the first step to show regret in tangible fashion.

As much as there are people waiting in line for cars, there are also dealers and brands waiting for business.

Ferrari is just a car and a brand.

A good upholsterer could take care of that in exact factory leather in a few days, and those are pieces that are less obvious than the dash or seat bolsters. If they do it prior to formal delivery maybe that's good enough for the next buyer.

Sorry to hear though, I know how it feels.
