FACTS AND STATS: Ferrari make it 10 wins in Melbourne as Mercedes end 62-race scoring streak | Formula 1®
Wont help them win races and that's what matters. Most people that are into the sport could care less about diversity BS.
Although I hate Hamilton’s antics I don’t understand why people are believing he’s completely toasted as a driver. Don’t underestimate him.
Completely toasted? No But the big picture is not looking fantastic. Beaten by Russell in his first season there in his own team, tailer made car for him now and being beaten 3-0 so far. He can complain all he likes about his car/team but he's not beating his teammate.
You are using a very small lense to evaluate Sir Lewis Hamilton. He is not proving anything buy beating Russell. Been there done that. When Sir Lewis Hamilton is motivated with the right team and car he is still a force. Who cares if he doesn't beat Russell? I don't.
I'm one of those who was very happy to hear that Lewis is coming to the Scuderia, but I am definitely concerned about his form over the last couple of seasons. There are those who argue that Lewis is trying many different set ups and new parts in an effort to improve the fundamentals on the car and George is just concentrating on doing the best with what he's given. I think that argument could hold water up to the point that Lewis announced he's leaving Mercedes. It should be George who is spending energy on trying to improve the car in the hopes of an improved 2025 and Lewis should just be jumping in and driving. Charles is my favourite driver in F1. However I fear that Ferrari may regret losing Carlos.
The "lewis is trying different setups" excuse has entered it's 3rd year now. Rest of the season and next year will be quite telling.
With all of that experience he should've found a decent set-up by now and then driven around any micro shortcomings by adapting his driving style.
Sainz to RB would be fun, but they've been team mates before and Max clearly had the measure of Carlos
I find it puzzling that some alledgedly good drivers like Vettel, Raikkonen, Ricciardo and now Hamilton cannot adapt to different car behaviours, when their apparently less experienced team mates manage to do it.
You missed the whole season last year? Been there done that. Will he have the full support and motivation to do it now? Don't know.
Kimi hated the "lift and coast" technique drivers had to adopt when the hybrid cars came along. By his own admission at the time, it took him some time before he mastered it.
Lewis finished third last year behind the indomitable RBs, so I will wait to write him off. At the very least, he would be a formidable tail gunner for Leclerc if Hamilton is going the way of Kimi. The more significant reason is that Hamilton is very marketable $$$. Ferrari is just as much a lifestyle brand now as it is racing. Most people probably didn't realize they even have a racing team. Ferrari pushes into fashion with stuff you and I may get laughed out of the room, which fits into Hamilton's wardrobe. On the cars, Ferrari, like every business, wants to market and expand to every country, culture, and background. Hamilton checks that box. With Ferrari also embracing certain P&R elements (I will say no more) that match Hamilton's - that's the final hammer(time) on the nail of Ham's suitability. I've found folks that hate the switch come from 3 angles. 1) His lack of performance (valid) 2) Who he is as a person (invalid) 3) His politics (what he 'says' and haute couture don't win races, last I checked the electronic timers don't change based on what you believe.) Cheers
PR is one thing, but can Hamilton do a Schumacher at Ferrari ? It's possible that Ham's primary motivation and focus is different. He enjoys winning but not at any cost or sacrifice.
Don't get me wrong, that's only apply to the" asides". Kinda like the guy. Always did, even if with some distance: he never was very good when put under pressure (Button at McLaren, Rosberg in 2016) but his achievements are undisputable (me thinks that his best year was definitively 2007: I was in awe...). I certainly would hate him to fade away slowly into oblivion without winning another one or two. That being said, the massive spending for Ferrari in recruiting him just left me puzzled. Keeping Sainz would have been a much better bargain. I'm a country boy, I don't like to overspend. Rgds
Can a rookie become his best in his first year? Is it even possible for one to become a experienced complete driver in one year? By your logic Max took longer to develop, or was Max his best his rookie year as well?
