Although this could fit into politics, business, humor, or even religion; I am being serious in a Ferrari general discussion. A recent article read that Ferrari will soon face a huge brand problem: engine note.

Ferrari turns some to electric in 2025 or later.

What sound system & files should I save to have my Ferrari sound awesome.

The ancient mechanics dissolve into quiet. Tire manufacturers have even developed quieter EV friendly tires to transmit less road noise.

What? Install a Bose woofer/tweeter file play of an Enzo.

Ok that was humor, but Ferrari faces a generational shift with this direction. At least with EU restrictions on engine sizes, CATs, mufflers etc we had 'the sound'.

Now what. My 599 HGTE will be a 4th of July parade/museum item?

Then again in my 70's, meh.

PS/Edit: An occasional political/humorous/religious comment can be ok. But please, seriously, let's not devolve into nanny-monitoring. Seriously, Ferrari faces a transitional problem.

I read the other day that Ferrari EVs will come with a soundtrack. The mind boggles.

Seriously? I had not heard they were stooping to that sort of fakery. If they're going to make an EV, just make an honest EV.

I'll overlook something like the useless front grilles on cars like the 355, TR, etc., as a styling throwback, but a fake soundtrack played from a silent Ferrari somehow takes it to a whole new level. It just misrepresents what the car is.

I don’t have to worry about it, I’ll never buy one.

    I love solving problems

Lol...regarding the very much tongue in cheek, "hearing past age 70" comment I made...about the only thing I can hear without help anymore is my Ferraris. And as long as I can hear them, I'm good to go! Farm equipment and drilling rigs shafted my hearing long ago. Of course most folks in their seventies and far beyond can hear very well...and I am envious. Cheers!

I suspect the enjoyment of an exhaust note is something future generations won’t care about. If you haven’t grown up with it…

I had no idea. I knew Fiat did with the Abarth 500E but that’s the only one I’d heard of.

The concept has been around for a while. For example, the sounds at an ATM are not necessary. It is just to make the customer feel that there is some sort of activity.

Some kind of sound is needed at low speeds for pedestrian and other vehicle safety.

    Does that work, no ??

But seriously. Ferrari is, like everything else, going down the wrong path. But they have a factory to run, people to pay and shareholders to appease. They just can’t stop building Ferraris because the world is changing. Sad for many of us, but tis’ true.

Why cars with great sounds will have value in the future!! (Me hopes) [emoji2956]

fake bmw engine noise you can’t turn off is why I do not own an M4. The last great M3 was E46. The E92 was barely acceptable. Then the fake noise came. I can take fake boobs but I draw the line at fake engine noise.

Nope, no fake boobs either (exception for real medical reasons)….just not for me.

You just know what the next step in fake noise “technology” will be right? Tuneable fake noise…..feel like F1 sound today, or do you go with 250 GTO?

True. I'm thinking iPhone camera "shutter" sounds.

...but Ferraris that make fake "vroom vroom" noises...hard for a buyer to be more poser than that, I think. I dunno; they need to make some noise, for safety as noted earlier. Can't have a 3500lb street level missile moving at speed, silently except for tire road noise. But still.

They'll probably have phone apps linked to the car so you can adjust your engine noise volume, exhaust type (OEM is free, or you can add a Capristo or Tubi for a $9.99/month subscription, payable through the app store), click here for pop and burble on overrun, and you can adjust the slider in the settings menu to vary the intensity.

For sure I'm glad I got into cars when I did.

edit: lol @Shark01 I was thinking the same thing.

I'm thinking the only way to do this right is to have real electric motor sound, so things sound science fiction like, while also not fake. Think Tron Cycle.

Some people will never accept it, and that's fine. I find the younger you are, the more time you’ve spent on video games, and the accompanying sonic signatures.
