Hi, I came across a Facebook Marketplace ad for what definitely appears to be a stolen car based on the price and description hinting at it being stolen. I recognized the background/fence and visited the auto body shop parking lot, and sure enough spotted the F8 in the Marketplace ad. Managed to get the VIN at the windshield: ZFF92LLA0N0273259. I let police know about it, but they decided to not check on it because the VIN wasn't marked stolen, although I was told that isn't unusual even if the car is stolen, and that instead the plates would be what is marked stolen. No plates on the car, and apparently they couldn't find an associated plate for the car either. Thought I'd let FerrariChat know in case anyone knows someone with a stolen F8, and so that there's some sort of online documentation about this for this VIN.

What sometimes happens is that these thieves will find a VIN of a non stolen car (a non-stolen F8 from some other state) and attach it to the stolen car. They register the stolen car in the new state and then get a license plate. All unbeknownst to the actual owner of the original VIN numbered car in the other state. They sell the stolen car and when the owner goes to get the owner doesn’t know the wiser. There does not exist a national database for vehicles registered in the US because each state is responsible for its own vehicle registration.
Be aware. Check the engine block for the actual vin and other parts of the car where the vin would be attached.

Most ridiculous ad I’ve ever seen. The poster should be put in prison just for his stupidity and writing, never mind for the GTA.

    Hello,

Do you know where the auto body shop is? i have been talking to the same person, and i have enough evidence that it is stolen but the police wont do anything. if i knew where it would be i could get more information and hopefully get this Ferrari back on the road to it's rightful owner.

    Thanks

Hey - if an F8 isn’t your style, the ad says “let us know” as they can evidently fulfill (steal) special orders.

I did a few minutes of digging. It's a burner account by the looks of things, so there is at least a little intelligence there. However pulling off a heist on a car of that caliber and doing such a ****ty ad seems strange. Perhaps the car isn't stolen and the pictures were just taken by the poster in an attempt to scam people.

I've managed to find out a bit more about the car (based on the windshield VIN, assuming that it is a legitimate VIN). The owner has been reached out to now, and if it is indeed stolen then they can proceed however they'd like, knowing the location of the F8. If I happen to find out it's a duplicated VIN and the owner still has their car, I'll see what else I can do.

It seems the same person behind the F8 ad has made more posts for a Huracan, McLaren GT, and C8 Corvette. I now feel like it likely is just an attempt to scam people and not actually sell the cars, although it appears to be someone who has physical access to the cars and isn't just taking images off the internet of the cars, or at least that was the case for the F8.

So many non title for sale ads on facebook market place, it is the new scam.
Owner reports it stolen, gets the insurance money, Gives it to a third party to sell. Most of these cars go over seas.

Anyone have good recommendations for professional car storage in Toronto Ontario ? Just don't want the worry of storing at home now with all these thefts.

If there isn't a national database for stolen Ferraris, perhaps there needs to be?
I cannot imagine that list would be very long... so managing the list would not be that hard.?

Why not start one here on FC?

They are stealing Jeeps around me especially 392's. I took all my good stuff out of my Jeep 392 in case it's stolen. We use the Jeep as the everyday to go out eating and shopping vehicle and I always look at it like this is the last time.

I've only had it a year but thinking of selling it or trading it for a more normal SUV an am interested in the new Toyota Land Cruiser or Lexus GX or a Chevy Tahoe. I've never had a Japanese car/suv because I've never fit right.
