    Hi all,

    Time to part with my R129 SL600. It was originally purchased from BaT a couple of years ago, and required a pretty extensive refurbishment to get into really nice shape.

    The original listing was here at https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-mercedes-benz-sl600-10/, and it looks more or less the same. Work was completed after sale by G&T Auto, a Mercedes specialist in Jersey City, that included a complete overhaul of the engine, suspension and brakes. Steve at G&T also solved several interior wear issues for me.

    The car looks great and works well, but I haven't ever really been able to bond with it after all of the work needed. As a result, it has about 73k miles. Only 2k added under my ownership.

    Only known issue is that the radio doesn't like to work. I have a replacement Porsche unit somewhere that I was going to swap in, but never got around to it. Active suspension, top, etc all work great -- the trouble points on these cars.

    I'll snap some more recent photos than the BaT ones when I get a chance to get to where it's stored.

    Priced for quick sale, $27k. Clean Montana title in under my LLC. Car is in Florida, and I don't mind bringing it to the buyer if you're in the state.

    R129s are really great cars. I bought a well-kept AMG package 500 a few years ago that was up to date on service (including rebuilds of all top cylinders) and have put 8k miles on it since, has been nearly faultless. I get a fair number of compliments on it too, which I wasn't expecting.

    Nothing specifically about you or your car...but a general comment about BaT buys.

    It is interesting to read your note about "pretty extensive refurbishment" and need for "overhaul of the engine, suspension, and brakes"...none of that came cheap on this type of car as MB V12s come with Ferrari money bills. I have heard numerous BaT buyers who realized their vehicle (Ferrari) needed extensive mechanical work and I have seen cars bought that ended up at a local shop that looked great on the website with plenty of cheerleaders talking the "splendid example" talk when the car was a borderline basketcase case with plenty of needs that would have been spotted with a simple visual in-person inspection...yet people consistently and typically pay top of the market on that site based on pictures, comments, and no on site visual or actual inspection (e.g. PPI).

    Price reduced to 24k. Stereo completely dead, I've realized. Head unit on these older things just dies, apparently.
